Changing Dynamic Front-end service IP Addresses

This section describes the method of configuring dynamic front-end IP service addresses.

Context

Dynamic and static front-end service IP addresses on one node must be in the same network segment and be either IPv4 or IPv6 addresses.

By default, each front-end service network port is assigned one dynamic front-end service IP address. However, if the number of clients of the NFS share service is three or more times the number of the front-end service nodes, and at the same time the IP addresses of the front-end service network are sufficient, you can plan an increased number of dynamic IP addresses for the front-end network service ports to balance client access to the OceanStor 9000. It is not recommended that the number of dynamic IP addresses assigned to the front-end service network ports be greater than the total number of clients.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > Cluster Settings > InfoEqualizer > Subnet Management.
  3. Set the number of the dynamic IP addresses assigned to the front-end service network ports.

    This step is optional. If you set the value to be larger than 1, you can configure multiple dynamic IP addresses for the front-end service network ports and assign multiple dynamic IP addresses for each front-end service network port. By default, the number of the dynamic IP addresses of the front-end network ports is 1.

    NOTE:
    An IP address from the IP address pool must be reassigned to a node that recovers from a fault. In case that the IP address pool has insufficient IP addresses, it is recommended that: Number of dynamic IP addresses = Number of ports connected to the front-end network x Number of the dynamic IP addresses of each the front-end service network port.

    1. Log in to the CLI.
    2. Run change infoequalizer business_iface_min_dynip to set the number of the dynamic IP addresses assigned to the front-end service network ports.
    3. Run show infoequalizer business_iface_min_dynip to view the result.

      For example, if you set the value to 2, the command output is as follows:

      admin:/>change infoequalizer business_iface_min_dynip 2

  4. Select a subnet for which you want to configure a dynamic IP address. Under IP Address Pool, click Add.
  5. In the Add IP Address dialog box that is displayed, enter the planned dynamic IP address and click OK.
  6. In the Execution Results dialog box that is displayed, click Close.

    In the table under IP Address Pool, you can view the newly added IP address.

  7. Repeat 4 to 6 to configure a dynamic IP address for each subnet.

    NOTE:

    If you want to delete or modify the dynamic IP address, please carefully read the content of the Warning dialog box that is displayed. Then confirm the information and finish the steps.

  8. Optional: In the IP Address Pool area, click Modify to modify the dynamic IP address. Note that modifying the dynamic IP address could affect online services of online clients.
  9. Optional: In the IP Address Pool area, click Delete to delete the dynamic IP address. Note that deleting the dynamic IP address could affect online services of online clients.

Follow-up Procedure

To manually adjust loads of all nodes in the system, adjust the dynamic IP addresses of front-end service network ports as follows:

  1. Log in to the CLI.
  2. Run change infoequalizer ip_failback status=disable to disable the automatic assignment of dynamic IP addresses.
  3. Run move infoequalizer ippool ippool_id node_name to assign the dynamic IP address to be adjusted to a specified node. In the preceding command, ippool_id indicates the ID of the dynamic IP address. node_name indicates the node name of the protocol cluster of the node to which the dynamic IP address is assigned. The two parameters can be obtained pressing Ctrl + A.
  4. After the adjustment is completed, run change infoequalizer ip_failback status=enable to enable the automatic assignment of dynamic IP addresses.
