InfoScanner Management

InfoScanner Management

This operation enables you to manage antivirus servers, query antivirus service parameters, manage scan policies, manage scan directories, manage scan authentication users, and view scan records.

Managing Antivirus Servers

This operation enables you to remove and query the configured antivirus servers.

Removing an Antivirus Server

This operation allows you to remove an antivirus server that is invalid or no longer used.

Context

At least one antivirus server has been added to the system. You can remove multiple antivirus servers at the same time.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Select Settings > InfoScanner > Antivirus Server.
  3. Select the antivirus server that you want to remove and click Remove.

    The Confirm dialog box is displayed.

  4. Confirm the information and click OK.

    The Execution Result dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation succeeded.

  5. Click Close.
Browsing Information About an Antivirus Server

This operation allows you to know the configuration of an antivirus server.

Prerequisites

At least one antivirus server has been added to the system.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > InfoScanner > Antivirus Server.
  3. Browse information about an antivirus server.

    Table 8-16 describes related parameters.

    Parameter

    Description

    Name

    Name of the antivirus server.

    Status

    Operating status of the antivirus server. The value of the parameter can be:
    • Invalid: indicates that the network communication between the antivirus server and storage system is abnormal. Contact technical engineers to locate faults.
    • Normal: indicates the network communication between the antivirus server and storage system is normal.

    IP Address

    IP address of the antivirus server. Currently, both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are supported.

    Port

    Number of the port on the antivirus server used to communicate with the storage system.

    Vendor

    Antivirus software vendor. Currently, Rising Antivirus, Symantec Protection Engine, Symantec Engpoint Protection, Trend Micro ServerProtect, Sophos Endpoint Protection, and McAfee VirusScan Enterprise are supported.

Querying Antivirus Service Parameters

This operation enables you to query antivirus service parameters.

Context

The isolation directory, share name of the isolation directory, and share name of the root directory cannot be changed after being configured.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > InfoScanner > Scan Service.
  3. Query antivirus service parameters on the Scan Service page that is displayed.

Managing Scan Policies

This operation enables you to modify, delete, and query scan policies.

Modifying Properties of a Scan Policy

This section describes how to modify scan policies at any time to optimize virus scans.

Prerequisites

At least one scan policy has been added.

Context

If you modify a scan policy when it is being used to scan for viruses for a directory, files in the directory that are being scanned will be scanned based on the original scan policy, whereas those are not being scanned will be scanned based on the new scan policy.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Select Settings > InfoScanner > Scan Policy.
  3. Select the scan policy whose properties you want to modify and click Properties.

    The Properties dialog box is displayed.

  4. Modify properties of the selected scan policy.

    Table 8-17 describes related parameters.

    Non-scan Period

    Period during which antivirus scan is not implemented.

    [Value range]

    • The start time must be earlier than the end time.
    • A maximum of five non-scan periods are supported and the non-scan periods cannot conflict with each other.

    Excluded File Types in Scan

    Type of files that do not need to be scanned. In Excluded File Types in Scan, manually enter file name extensions and click Add. This operation allows you to define types of files that do not need to be scanned.

    [Value range]

    • The file type contains 1 to 8 characters.
    • One scan policy supports a maximum of 500 types of files that do not need to be scanned.
    • One file type can be added once only.

    [Example]

    .txt

    Max. File Size for Scan

    Files whose size is smaller than the parameter value are scanned.
    NOTE:
    If the parameter value is set to Unlimited, there is no limit on the size of files to be scanned.

    [Value range]

    The value ranges from 1 MB to 4096 MB.

    [Example]

    40 MB

  5. Click OK.

    The Success dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

  6. Click OK.
Deleting a Scan Policy

This operation allows you to delete a scan policy that is no longer needed.

Prerequisites

  • At least one scan policy has been created.
  • Before deleting a scan policy, ensure that this policy does not apply to any scan directories. If the scan policy has applied to scan directory A, delete scan directory A or configure another scan policy for directory A.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Select Settings > InfoScanner > Scan Policy.
  3. Select the scan policy that you want to delete and click Delete.

    The Confirm dialog box is displayed.

  4. Confirm the information and click OK.

    The Execution Result dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation succeeded.

  5. Click Close.
Browsing Information About a Scan Directory

This operation allows you to know the details about a scan policy that has been set.

Prerequisites

At least one scan policy has been set in the system.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Select Settings > InfoScanner > Scan Policy.
  3. Browse information about a scan policy.

    Table 8-18 describes related parameters.

A scan directory has been created and scan service parameters have been configured.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > InfoScanner > Directory Scan.
  3. Select the scan directory whose properties you want to modify and click Properties.

    The Properties of Scan Directory dialog box is displayed. Figure 8-26 shows the process.

  4. Modify the scan policy and default status of the scan directory and click OK.

    The Success dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

  5. Click OK.

    NOTE:
    If you only want to modify the default status of a scan directory, you can select the scan directory on the Directory Scan page and click Enable or Close.

Deleting a Scan Directory

This operation allows you to delete the directories that do not need antivirus scan.

Prerequisites

At least one scan directory has been created.

Context

The system allows you to delete a scan directory that is being scanned. The system's response to the deletion varies with the type of deleted scan directory:
  • If a real-time scan directory is deleted, operations on new files do not trigger antivirus scan.
  • If a periodic scan directory is deleted, files that are not added to the scan job are not scanned any more.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Select Settings > InfoScanner > Scan Directory.
  3. Select the scan directory that you want to delete and click Delete.

    The Confirm dialog box is displayed.

  4. Confirm the information and click OK.

    The Execution Result dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation succeeded.

  5. Click Close.
Browsing Information About a Scan Directory

This operation allows you to know information about existing scan directories and their scan parameters.

Context

At least one scan directory has been created.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Select Settings > InfoScanner > Scan Directory.
  3. Browse information about a scan directory and its parameters.

    Table 8-19 describes related parameters.

    Scan Directory

    CIFS or NFS share directory that needs to be scanned.

    Scan Policy

    Scan policy used by the scan directory.
    NOTE:

    You can click Create to create a scan policy based on site requirements.

    Default Status

    Whether the antivirus service is enabled for the directory by default. The value of the parameter can be:
    • Enabled: The system will automatically scan for viruses based on the preset scan type.
    • Disabled: By default, the system disables the antivirus service of this directory.

    Scan type

    Antivirus scan type. The value of the parameter can be:
    • Periodic: The system scans shared files in off-peak hours based on scan policies.
    • Real time: The system scans shared files in real time.

Managing Scan Authentication Users

This operation enables you to remove and query a scan authentication user.

Procedure

  • Removing a scan authentication user
    1. Log in to DeviceManager.
    2. Choose Provisioning > User Authentication > Local Authentication User Group.
    3. Select AntivirusGroup and click Domain User in the lower part of the page.
    4. Select the scan authentication user that you want to remove and click Remove.
    5. Confirm information in the Warning dialog box and select I have read and understood the consequences associated with performing this operation.
    6. Click OK to delete the scan authentication user.
  • Querying a scan authentication user
    1. Log in to DeviceManager.
    2. Choose Provisioning > User Authentication > Local Authentication User Group.
    3. Select AntivirusGroup and click Domain User in the lower part of the page.
    4. View information about scan authentication users in the lower part of the page.
