Viewing Alarm Information

This operation enables you to know about the running status of the file system to discover and troubleshoot faults in a timely manner.

Prerequisites

  • Alarms in the current alarm list have been classified and merged. If a new alarm is reported and the alarm meets the merging rule, the alarm can be merged into an existing alarm record in the current alarm list, and the number of such alarms is increased by one. If the current alarm list does not contain an alarm that meets the merging rule, the new alarm is separately displayed as a new alarm record in the current alarm list.

    NOTE:

    Alarm merging rule: Alarms with the same alarm source, location, and alarm ID are merged into one record.

  • If the current filter criteria are modified, the system displays alarms based on the new filter criteria.
  • Click Sort combination, and set an alarm sorting policy in the Sort combination dialog box that is displayed.

Procedure

  1. In the main menu, choose Resource > Storage Subnet.
  2. In the navigation tree, choose Storage > Storage Device. In the information display zone, click the device name and choose General > Alarm List. You can view the current alarm list of the file system.
  3. In the Select area of the Current Alarms page, select filter criteria and click Filter.

    NOTE:

    On the page that is displayed, select Save to save the filter criteria as a template. You can sort alarms next time using the template from the drop-down list box in the upper-right corner.

  4. On the Alarm List page, you can perform the following operations:

    Lock alarms

    Click Scroll Lock. The alarms in the current list are locked. In addition, Scroll Lock automatically changes to Scroll unlock.

    When the alarms in the current list are locked, note that:
    • Newly reported alarms will not be added to the current alarm list.
    • When an alarm is available, you can acknowledge, clear, and view the alarm. When an alarm is unavailable, you cannot perform any operations on the alarm.
    • The alarms that are acknowledged or cleared in the locked state cannot be updated to the historical alarm list.

    Unlock alarms

    Click Scroll unlock. The system automatically updates alarms in the current alarm list. In addition, Scroll unlock automatically changes to Scroll Lock.

    Search for historical alarms

    In the Select area, select filter criteria and click Filter.

    The filter criteria can be cleared by clicking Clear.

    Acknowledge alarms

    • Select one or more alarms and click Confirm.
    • In the current alarm list, click in the Operation column of each alarm that you want to acknowledge.
    Confirm: The user has known that the alarm is reported.
    • Acknowledged alarm: The user that acknowledges the alarm is displayed in the Confirm User column.
    • Unacknowledged alarm: No information is displayed in the Confirm User column.
    NOTE:

    After you click Confirm and Clear, the alarm information will be displayed in the History Alarms list.

    Unacknowledge alarms

    • Select one or more acknowledged alarms and click Anti-Confirm.
    • In the current alarm list, click in the Operation column of each alarm that you want to acknowledge.

    The alarm turns from the acknowledged state to the unacknowledged state.

    Clear alarms

    • Select one or more uncleared alarms and click Clear.
    • In the current alarm list, click in the Operation column of each alarm that you want to clear.
    Operation: The related fault has been rectified.
    • Cleared alarm: The background color of the alarm is green.
    • Uncleared alarm: The background color of the alarm is white.
    NOTE:

    After you click Confirm and Clear, the alarm information will be displayed in the History Alarms list.

    Add alarm remarks

    1. Select one or more alarms and click Remark.
      NOTE:

      The operator must have the right to perform the Alarm Settings operation.

      If you select multiple alarms to add remarks, the remarks text box is left blank by default. If you select one alarm to add remarks, the remarks text box displays the previous remarks of the alarm.

    2. Fill in remarks in the Alarm Remarks dialog box.

    The alarm remarks provide alarm handling information for future reference.

    Customize the columns to be displayed in the alarm list

    Click . On the page that is displayed, set the columns to be displayed in the alarm list, and click OK.

    View alarm details

    In the current alarm list, click the Alarm Name of the alarm that you want to view.

    In the Alarm Details dialog box, the Name, Possible Reasons, and Recovery Suggestion of the alarm are displayed.

    Set alarm handling experience

    The operator must have the right to perform the Alarm Settings operation.
    1. Click the Alarm Name of the target alarm.
    2. On the Maintenance Experience tab page of the Alarm Details dialog box, add or modify the alarm handling experiences.

    After handling an alarm, you need to record the alarm handling experience to the corresponding alarm handling experience library for later reference.

    Export alarm information

    In the current alarm list, select one or more alarms. Choose Export > Export Selection to export the alarm information.

    You can also choose Export > Export All to export the information about all alarms.
