Configuration Operations

Based on the requirement analysis and application planning, this section describes how to configure InfoAllocator for the media organization to manage data storage capacity properly.


  • You have obtained the license.
  • The directory for which you want to create a quota is empty.


Figure 4-7 shows the procedure for configuring InfoAllocator.

  1. Check the license file.

    InfoAllocator is an optional feature of OceanStor 9000. A license is required for this feature.

    1. Choose Settings > License Management > Active License.
    2. Confirm license availability. If there is no InfoAllocator license, purchase one and import the license file. For details, see Importing and Activating a License in OceanStor 9000 File System Administrator Guide.
  2. Create a directory.
    1. Choose Provisioning > Create Directory.
    2. Click Create, and set Name to media and Parent Path to /.
    3. Click OK.
  3. Create a common Internet file system (CIFS) share.
    1. Choose Provisioning > Create Share.
    2. Click Create, and set Share Type to CIFS(Windows/MAC) and Share Path to /media.
    3. Click Next, and set Share Name to media, Description to media, User/User Group to Everyone, and Permission Level to Read and write.
    4. Click Next and click Finish.
  4. Create a quota.
    1. Choose Provisioning > InfoAllocator.
    2. On the InfoAllocator page, select Quota Management.
    3. Click Create, and set Quota Path to /media, User/User Group to Everyone, Quota Type to Capacity Quota, Quota Mode to Mandatory Quota, Hard Threshold (GB) to 300 (GB), Soft threshold (GB) to 200 (GB), Soft Threshold Grace Period (day) to 30 (days), and Recommended Threshold (GB) to 150 (GB).
    4. Click OK.
  5. Connect to the third-party network management system (NMS).
