Modifying a Periodic Directory Snapshot Policy

Modify a periodic directory snapshot policy to meet service requirements.

Prerequisites

A periodic directory snapshot policy has been created.

Cautions
  • After periodic directory snapshot policy has been modified, the system will generate and keep directory snapshot based on the new snapshot policy.
  • The snapshots generated and retained by the old snapshot policy (before modifying) are not affected by the new policy, still retaining the snapshot based on the old policy. For example, the old policy sets the snapshot expire time is 10 days, so the snapshot is retained as long as the set time.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Data Protection > Snapshot > Timing Snapshot Policy.
  3. Modify a periodic directory snapshot policy.
    1. Select the periodic directory snapshot policy that you want to modify and click Properties.

The Properties of Timing Snapshot Policy dialog box is displayed.

    2. Modify the time policy and time when the directory snapshot expires.

If the time is not set to Never Expire, the time must be longer than 0 years and shorter than 50 years.

  4. Confirm that you want to modify the periodic directory snapshot policy.
    1. Click OK.

The Execution Result dialog box is displayed.

    2. Click Close.

Deleting a Periodic Directory Snapshot Policy

This operation enables you to delete a periodic directory snapshot policy. After the deletion, snapshots can no longer be automatically created based on the periodic snapshot policy. Therefore, ensure that you select the correct periodic snapshot policy before the deletion.

Context

The snapshots generated by one periodic directory snapshot policy are not affected by deleting this snapshot policy. The snapshots still execute the expire time as set in this snapshot policy.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Data Protection > Snapshot > Timing Snapshot Policy.
  3. Delete a periodic directory snapshot policy.
    1. Select a periodic directory snapshot policy and click Delete.

The Warning dialog box is displayed.

    2. Confirm the information in the dialog box and select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation. Then click OK.

The Execution Result dialog box is displayed.

    3. Click Close.
