Requirement Analysis

Requirement Analysis

This section analyzes the video file storage and management requirements of a media organization and provides a storage solution.

Customer Requirements

The media organization needs to store some video files and set a quota for each directory where the video files reside to facilitate storage resource management. This organization uses third-party management software and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) ports to obtain available quota capacity from the storage system and determine whether the available capacity is sufficient for the files to be written and whether copy is allowed. If the third-party management software determines that the available quota capacity is insufficient, files will be automatically deleted to free quota capacity.

The media organization has the following requirements:

  • Quotas must be set for directories that store video files.
  • Third-party management software and SNMP ports must be used to obtain available quota capacity from the storage system.
  • Available quota capacity can be obtained in real time.

The InfoAllocator feature is the best solution to meet the requirements of the media organization. Details of the solution are as follows:

Set the quota type and quota mode of the directories that store media files to capacity quota and mandatory quota, respectively.
