Configuration Operations

This section describes how to configure the NFS protocol enhancement feature to meet the customer requirements.


The client communicates properly with the front-end service network of OceanStor 9000.


The process of configuring the NFS protocol enhancement feature includes: obtain the installation package of DFSClient on the PC; create a directory and an NFS share using DeviceManager; and install DFSClient on and mount the NFS share to the Mac OS X client. For details, see Figure 12-14.

  1. Visit and choose Technical Support > Product Support > Software Download > Cloud Storage > Scale-out Storage > OceanStor 9000 > Software Download. Select the desired software package and download the installation package and digital certificate *.asc file.
  2. Choose Technical Support > Tools > All Tools > Software digital signature validation tool (PGP Verify), select the latest software version and download all the documents (including tool usage description documents), and verify the installation package following instructions in the documents.
  3. Use the FileZilla tool to upload the installation package to the installation path of the RHEL client.
    1. Double-click FileZilla.
    2. In Host, enter sftp:// In Username, enter the user name of the RHEL client. In Password, enter the password of the RHEL client. Click Quickconnect.
    3. In the navigation tree on the right, right-click a directory under which you want to create a subdirectory. On the shortcut menu, choose Create directory and enter a directory name. Then click OK.
    4. Select the installation package in the navigation tree on the left, select home in the navigation tree on the right, and drag the files to be uploaded to the right side using the mouse.
  4. Log in to DeviceManager.
  5. Create a directory.
    1. Choose Provisioning > Create Share.
    2. Set Name to hpc and Parent Path to /. Click Advanced, select Read, Write, and Execute for User, User Group, and Others.
    3. Click OK.


    In NFS file sharing, to prevent users' usage of a directory from being affected by UNIX permissions, select Read, Write, and Execute for User, User Group, and Others in the Advanced window of the directory, for details about how to create an NFS shared directory, see OceanStor 9000 File System Administrator Guide.

  6. Creates an NFS share.
    1. Choose Provisioning > Create Share.
    2. Set Share Type to NFS (Linux/UNIX/MAC) and Share Path to /hpc.
    3. Click Next. Set Description to hpc, and click Add, set parameters in the Add Client page as follows:

      • Type to Host.
      • Name or IP Address to,,, and
      • Permission to Read-write.
      • set Write Mode to Asynchronous and Root Permission Constraint to no_root_squash in the Advanced choice.

      After setting the parameters, click OK.

    4. Click Next > Finish > Close, and follow the system prompts to complete creating NFS shares.


    To allow user root to access shared directories and enhance the data read and write performance on a client, click Advanced on the Add Client page, set Write Mode to Asynchronous and Root Permission Constraint to no_root_squash.

  7. Log in to the RHEL client.
  8. Run rpm -ivh /home/OceanStor_9000-VxxxRxxxCxx_DFSClient_Redhat6.3.x86_64.rpm, install DFSClient.
  9. Configure the IP address routing policy for the RHEL client.
    1. Run vim /etc/iproute2/rt_tables, add routing table number.

      [root@localhost home]# vim /etc/iproute2/rt_tables
      1002 net2
      1003 net3
      1004 net4
      1005 net5

    2. Run vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/route-ethx, enter to xx.xx.0.0/16 dev ethx table netx.

      [root@localhost home]# vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/route-eth2
      to dev eth2 table net2 
      [root@localhost home]# vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/route-eth3
      to dev eth3 table net3 
      [root@localhost home]# vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/route-eth4
      to dev eth4 table net4 
      [root@localhost home]# vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/route-eth5
      to dev eth5 table net5 

    3. Run vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/rule-ethx, enter from xx.xx.xx.xx/32 pref 1000 table netx.

      [root@localhost home]# vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/rule-eth2
      from pref 1000 table net2 
      [root@localhost home]# vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/rule-eth3
      from pref 1000 table net3 
      [root@localhost home]# vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/rule-eth4
      from pref 1000 table net4 
      [root@localhost home]# vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/rule-eth5
      from pref 1000 table net5 

    4. Run the service network restart command to restart the network to make the routing policy take effect.
  10. Configure the DNS server.
    1. Run the setup command.
    2. Press Enter. The Network configuration page is displayed.
    3. Press Enter. The DNS configuration page is displayed.
    4. Enter IP address of the DNS server, and click OK, Save&Quit, and Quit in turn.
  11. Mount the NFS share.
    1. Optional: Run showmount -e to check the shared path created on DeviceManager.
    2. Optional: Run mkdir /mnt/xnfs to create local directory to be mounted /mnt/xnfs.
    3. Run mount command mount.xnfs. -o vers=3,sip= /mnt/xnfs.

Follow-up Procedure

Read and write data from and to the mounted directory.
