Requirement Analysis

This section analyzes the multi-subnet storage requirements of a meteorology bureau and provides a storage solution in a high-performance computing scenario.

Customer Requirements

Figure 2-26 shows the service network of high-performance computing in a certain meteorology bureau. The current running status of the bureau is as follows:

  • Based on service requirements, its service clients and office networks are in different network segments.
  • Its service clients all employ the IPv6 protocol.
  • Its office networks employ the IPv4 protocol.
  • It uses external DNS servers to resolve domain names.

Based on the service running status quo, the bureau has the the following requirements:

  • The OceanStor 9000 needs to be divided into different subnets to carry various network services.
  • External DNS servers on different networks need to be connected.
  • Management clients need to manage the OceanStor 9000 storage nodes in real time. The back-end storage network of the OceanStor 9000 only supports the IPv4 protocol. Therefore, the management network must support both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols.

Analysis and Conclusion

According to the requirements, the conclusion is that the customer needs a solution that supports the IPv6 protocol, subnet division, and connection to external DNS servers.
  • Deploy a four P36E nodes OceanStor 9000 cluster.
  • Divide the OceanStor 9000 system into two subnets. The two sunbets use different IP protocols to support the customer's two service networks.
  • The two subnets need to connect to different external DNS servers so that the OceanStor 9000 can be accessed using different domain names.
