Installing UniformView

This section describes the procedure for installing UniformView.

Prerequisites

The software package required for installation has been obtained. Table 10-4 lists the required software package.

  • Obtained from the delivery-attached CD-ROM.
  • For enterprise users, log in to http://support.huawei.com/enterprise. For carrier users, log in to http://support.huawei.com. Enter OceanStor 9000 in the search box, and click the path displayed below the search box to enter the product page. For enterprise users, click Software Download. For carrier users, click Software to search for and download the software of the correct version and their *.asc digital certificate files.

Tools required for installing UniformView have been prepared. Table 10-5 lists the required tools.

Used to upload files to the server. You need to install the FileZilla client version only. The server version is not required.

SSH Client software (such as PuTTY)

Used to remotely log in to the server.

Procedure

  1. Use an FTP file upload tool such as FileZilla to upload the OceanStor_9000_Version-uniformview.tar.gz file to the installation path of UniformView such as :/home.

    For details about how to upload a file and create a directory, see Uploading a File Using FileZilla.

  2. Use SSH client software such as PuTTY to remotely log in to the UniformView client as the root user.

    For details about how to log in to the UniformView client, see Remotely Logging In to the UniformView Client Using PuTTY.

  3. Run tar xvf OceanStor_9000_VxxxRxxxCxx-uniformview.tar.gz to unzip the software package.
  4. Use the check value to verify software package integrity.

    sha256sum UniformView.bin

    The installation package is integrated if the returned check value is consistent with the standard value. Otherwise, re-obtain and upload the installation package.

    NOTE:

    For enterprise users, log in to http://support.huawei.com/enterprise. For carrier users, log in to http://support.huawei.com. Enter OceanStor 9000 in the search box, and click the path displayed below the search box to enter the product page. For enterprise users, click Software Download. For carrier users, click Software to search for and download the software of the correct version and their *.asc digital certificate files.

  5. Install UniformView.
    1. Switch to the installation directory.

      cd /home

    2. Assign the execution permission to the installation script.

      chmod 550 UniformView.bin

    3. Run the installation command.

      ./UniformView.bin install

      # ./UniformView.bin install
      Choose 'y' to set default dir '/mnt/UniformView',or 'n' to choose another dir for UniformView Root: [Y]es, [N]o ?
      n
      please input the full path like '/mnt/test' ,and you'll get '/mnt/test/UniformView' for UniformView Root:
      /mnt/dirName
      you have directed (/mnt/dirName/UniformView)
      install success
      NOTE:

      During the UniformView installation, the user can specify a directory as the mounting root directory of UniformView. If the directory is not specified, /mnt/UniformView is used by default.

Installation Verification

After the installation, check whether the information about the mounting root directory, client version, and command help is correct. If the returned information is incorrect, uninstall UniformView and reinstall it.

Perform the following steps to verify the installation:

  1. Log in to the UniformView client as the root user.
  2. Check whether the mounting root directory exists (use default mounting root directory for example).

    cd /mnt/UniformView

  3. Check the version information.

    UniformView version

    If the following command output is displayed, the installation is successful. If the returned version information is incorrect, obtain the proper installation package, uninstall the UniformView, and reinstall it.

    # UniformView version
    UniformView 1.1

  4. Check the help information of the commands.

    NOTE:

    Every cluster ID is unique. You are advised to use cluster IDs as mounting names.

    # UniformView help
    usage:
    	 UniformView add/del <mount_para> mount or umount one cluster 	 mount_para: format as CLUSTER_ID#SHARE_DIR#FLOAT_IP,
    				                                                              example: cluster123#share_dir#10.10.10.10
    	 UniformView mount/umount <config_file> mount or umount many clusters 	 config_file: full path of the file(each line with mount_para),
    				                                                              example: /home/test.ini 
     	 UniformView umountall 		 umount all clusters that mount through UniformView 
    	 UniformView recover  		 try to recover the clusters unconnected that mount throught UniformView
    	 UniformView version  		 get the UniformView version 
    	 UniformView help   		 get help for UniformView
