Modifying a Default Quota

Modifying a Default Quota

This operation allows you to adjust the parameter settings of a default quota to meet service requirements.

Prerequisites

At least one default quota has been created.

Context

Changes in the thresholds of a default quota will be synchronized to all associated quotas.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Provisioning > InfoAllocator > Default Quota.
  3. Select the default quota that you want to modify and click Properties.

The Default Quota Properties dialog box is displayed.

  4. Set default quota parameters. Table 4-11 describes related parameters.

    Table 4-11  Default quota parameters

    Description

    Value

    Quota Mode

The value of the parameter can be:
    • Calculate Quota: only monitors but not restricts the use of storage space and files.
    • Mandatory Quota: monitors and restricts the use of storage space and files. The mandatory quota involves the following parameters:
      • Hard Threshold: When the used storage space or number of used files reaches the hard threshold, the system forbids writes immediately and reports a run log.
      • Soft Threshold: When the used storage space or number of used files reaches the soft threshold, the system reports an alarm but allows writes in the grace period specified by the soft threshold. After the grace period times out, the system forbids writes immediately and reports an alarm. You must configure a grace period when configuring the soft threshold.
        NOTE:
When the used storage space or number of used files reaches the soft threshold, the system reports an alarm but allows writes in the grace period specified by the soft threshold. After the grace period times out, the system forbids writes immediately and reports an alarm.
      • Recommended Threshold: When the storage space that has been used reaches the recommended threshold, the system reports an alarm without stopping writes. When the used storage space or number of used files reaches the recommended threshold, the system does not restrict writes but only reports an alarm.

    [Value range]

    • Recommended Threshold: 0 to 4,294,967,294
    • Soft Threshold: 0 to 4,294,967,294
    • Soft Threshold Grace Period: 0 to 4,294,967,294
    • Hard Threshold: 0 to 4,294,967,294
    NOTE:
    • For a capacity quota, the unit of the previous three thresholds is GB; for a file quantity quota, the unit of the previous three thresholds is thousand.
    • The recommended threshold, soft threshold, and hard threshold are optional. If a threshold is set to 0, this threshold is disabled. If none of the three thresholds is set to 0, it is recommended that the values of the recommended threshold, soft threshold, and hard threshold increase in ascending order.
    • You must configure a grace period when configuring the soft threshold.

    [Example]

If the quota type is Capacity Quota, the mandatory parameter values are as follows:
    • Hard Threshold (GB): 6
    • Soft Threshold (GB): 4
    • Soft Threshold Grace Period (Days): 10
    • Recommended Threshold (GB): 3

  5. Click OK.

The security alert dialog box is displayed.

  6. Carefully read the content of the dialog box and select I have read the warning message carefully.

The Success dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

  7. Click OK.
