This section describes the impact of the InfoLocker feature on system performance, restrictions on the feature application, and interaction between the feature and other features.

Impact on System Performance

Asynchronously appending data to WORM files deceases system performance, but only the access and write of WORM files are affected.

Application Restrictions

  • Only the enterprise compliance mode is supported.
  • Only empty directories can be configured as WORM root directories.
  • WORM root directories do not support nesting. Once you have created a WORM directory, the properties of the directory apply to its subdirectories, newly created directories, and files.
  • Modified WORM configurations apply to new files or subdirectories only. Parent directories and files are not affected.
  • The WORM clock cannot be changed once being set.
  • Once a directory for storing WORM logs is set, it cannot be changed or deleted and its parent directory cannot be deleted either.
  • The directory for storing WORM logs cannot be set retention period.
  • Do not configure a quota for the directory storing WORM logs. Otherwise, logs may fail to be recorded.
  • Do not create hard links to files in a WORM directory.

Interaction with Other Features

Table 7-5 describes the interaction between the InfoLocker feature and other features.

Table 7-5  Interaction between the InfoLocker feature and other features

Interaction with InfoLocker

  • If InfoLocker is enabled, the InfoLocker property of the primary directory of remote replication must be the same as that of the secondary directory.
  • When the InfoLocker clock difference of two systems is smaller than 60 minutes, the InfoLocker file is replicated to the other system and the InfoLocker property keeps unchanged.

After a snapshot rollback, the InfoLocker function of the directory fails.

You are advised not to configure InfoLocker for a scan directory.
