Discovering Storage Devices

Discovering Storage Devices

You can configure the management IP address, user name, and password for an OceanStor 9000 cluster to add the cluster to eSight.

  • eSight can communicate with the management network of the OceanStor 9000 cluster through a route (eSight and the cluster can ping each other).

If the OceanStor 9000 cluster has C72 nodes, eSight must reside on the same subnet as the management network of the OceanStor 9000 cluster and Layer 2 interconnection is required.

  • You have obtained the management IP address, user name, and password of an OceanStor 9000 cluster.

  1. In the main menu, choose Resource > Common > Add Resource > Add Resource.
  2. Choose Storage > Storage Device.
  3. In the Basic Information area, enter the management IP address of the OceanStor 9000 cluster. In the Model area, select OceanStor 9000. In the Version area, select Other.
  4. In the REST Protocol group box, configure the REST connection parameters of the OceanStor 9000.

Figure 11-2 shows the connection parameters. Table 11-3 describes the connection parameters.

Indicates the user name of the storage device management system.

Indicates the password of the storage device management system.

Port number used for accessing a specific storage device.

    Default port: 8088.

    [Value range]

The value ranges from 1 to 65535.

  5. In the area, configure the event notification parameters of the OceanStor 9000.

Figure 11-3 shows the event notification parameters.

Set Type to SNMPv3, Port to 161, Attempts and Timeout to 3, and Context Name to Array. The settings of Username, Authentication protocol, Authentication password, and Privacy protocol, and Privacy password must be consistent with the settings configured for the OceanStor 9000 in Configuring Storage Devices.

  6. Click OK.

If discovering storage devices fails, restart the eSight.

Follow-up Procedure

Protocol parameters are used for communications between the network management system (NMS) and network elements (NEs). If protocol parameters at the NE side are changed, modify also the protocol parameters at the NMS side.
  1. On the menu bar, choose Resource > Storage Subnet > Storage > Storage Device.
  2. Set Model to OceanStor 9000 and click Search.

The system lists the OceanStor 9000 devices that have been discovered.

  3. In the information display zone, click an OceanStor 9000 device.

The device details page is displayed.

  4. In the navigation tree, choose Settings > Protocol Parameter or Settings > Event Notification.
  5. Set the protocol parameters and click Test.
  6. After the test succeeds, click Apply.
