Can I Access File Sharing Services of the OceanStor 9000 Using an IP Address?


Can I access file sharing services of the OceanStor 9000 using an IP address?


You can use the dynamic front-end IP address or static front-end IP address of an OceanStor 9000 node to access file sharing services. However, service performance and reliability cannot be improved by InfoEqualizer when this access method is used. Therefore, you are advised to use domain names to access file sharing services.

Can I adjust the number of nodes in a zone?


You can adjust the number of nodes in a zone. You are advised to retain at least two nodes in a zone for fault failover.

Because using InfoEqualizer Dynamic domain name or Static domain name can only access nodes in root zone. If you migrate all nodes from the root zone to newly created zones, file sharing services can be only accessed using domain names of the newly created zones. InfoEqualizer Dynamic domain name or Static domain name cannot be used to access file sharing services.

Does InfoEqualizer affect File Distribution?


Does InfoEqualizer affect distribution of file fragments in the OceanStor 9000?


Distribution of file fragments in the OceanStor 9000 is not affected by InfoEqualizer. InfoEqualizer is only responsible for distributing the entries for clients to access theOceanStor 9000. How are file fragments written by clients distributed in the system is determined by the data protection mechanism.

The following factors can affect file distribution:
  • Redundancy ratio of a folder where files reside

    The redundancy ratio of a file where files reside determines the number of file fragments, thereby affecting distribution of file fragments in the system.

  • InfoTier

    If a file system has multiple InfoTier node pools for which a specific policy has been set, files will be distributed to or migrated among the node pools according to the policy.

    If InfoTier is not available for the file system, file fragments will be distributed to a InfoTier node pool at random.

    Fragments of a file can only be distributed to nodes in a InfoTier node pool and will not be distributed to nodes cross nodes pools.
