Configuration Operations

Based on the requirement analysis and application planning, this section describes how to configure InfoLocker for the financial organization to store securities archives securely.


  • You have obtained the license.
  • The directory for storing WORM logs has been created.
  • The number of existing WORM root directories is below the upper limit of 128.


Figure 7-4 shows the procedure for configuring InfoLocker.

  1. Check the license file.

    InfoLocker is a value-added feature. Before configuring this feature, you must ensure that the license file of the source and destination storage systems grant the permission to use InfoLocker.

    1. Choose Settings > License Management > Active License.
    2. Confirm license availability. If there is no InfoLocker license, purchase one and import the license file. For details, see Importing and Activating a License.
  2. Set the WORM clock and log directory.
    1. Choose Settings > Cluster Settings > WORM Settings.
    2. Click Settings and set WORM Clock to the current time.

      The WORM clock cannot be changed once being set.

    3. Click OK.
    4. Click Settings and select the directory for storing WORM logs.

      • The directory for storing WORM logs cannot be changed or deleted once being set. Do not write data into the directory.
      • The directory for storing WORM logs is empty.
      • No retention period has been set for the directory for storing WORM logs.

    5. Click OK.
  3. Create a local authentication user group.
    1. Choose Provisioning > User Authentication > Local Authentication User Group.
    2. Click Create, and set User Group Name to group and Description to group.
    3. Click OK.
  4. Create a directory.
    1. Choose Provisioning > Create Directory.
    2. Click Create, and set Name to ServerPath1 and Parent Path to /.
    3. Click OK.
  5. Create a CIFS share.
    1. Choose Provisioning > Create Share.
    2. Click Create, and set Share Type to CIFS (Windows/MAC) and Share Path to /ServerPath1.
    3. Click Next, and set Share Name to ServerPath1, Description to ServerPath1, Users/User Groups to Local authentication user group, Name to group, and Permission Level to Read and write.
    4. Click Next and click OK.
  6. Create a WORM root directory.
    1. Choose Provisioning > InfoLocker.
    2. Click Create, and set Directory to /ServerPath1, Min. Retention to 30 Year, Max. Retention to 70 Year, Default Retention to 70 Year, Automatic Lockup to 1 day.
    3. Click OK.
