Application Scenarios

Application Scenarios

The NFS protocol enhancement feature is mainly used in media asset and HPC scenarios.

Media asset Scenario

Figure 12-9 shows the media asset editing scenario. In the media asset scenario, bandwidth must be assured for editing and playing videos, overpressure in the entire system be prevented, and short delay be ensured for switchover without service interruption. DFSClient is installed in HD and UHD workstations (Mac OS X clients) to improve the service processing performance of the storage cluster, meeting the requirement for high bit rate and more layers and low-latency of video editing.

HPC Scenarios

Figure 12-10 shows the HPC scenario. HPC refers to a super computing system processing super large computing tasks. The system is composed of a data processing system and concurrent computing servers, and requires high read/write bandwidth of the storage system. DFSClient is installed on service hosts (RHEL clients) to improve the data access bandwidth of the storage cluster, meeting the requirement for massive concurrent data access and rapid data transmission.
