Configuring an Alarm Severity

This operation enables you to configure alarm severities based on the fault severities. Besides, you can determine whether alarms need to be reported to the upper-layer network management system (NMS).

Prerequisites

You have logged in to the DeviceManager as an administrator that has the permission. The following administrators have the permission:
  • Super administrator
  • Administrator

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > Alarm Settings > Alarm Severity.
  3. In the Alarm Severity drop-down list, set an alarm severity.

    NOTE:

    Users can enter the keywords of alarm names in the search box and click Search to search for desired alarms.

  4. Optional: Recover the alarm severity.
    1. In the alarm list, select the alarm whose severity you have changed.
    2. Click Recover Alarm Severity.

      The alarm severity is recovered to the original state.

  5. Optional: Set alarm reporting.
    1. Select alarms that need to be reported to the upper-layer NMS and click Enable Alarm Reporting.

      After the alarm reporting function is enabled, DeviceManager and the upper-level NMS (external NMS connected based on the SNMP protocol) will receive selected alarms.

    2. Optional: If some alarms do not need to be reported to DeviceManager and the upper-layer NMS (external NMS connected based on the SNMP protocol), select those alarms and click Disable Alarm Reporting.
    3. Optional: If some alarms do not need to be reported to the upper-layer NMS (external NMS connected based on the SNMP protocol), select those alarms and click Disable SNMP Alarm Reporting.
