Configuring Email Notification

Configuring Email Notification

After the email notification function is enabled and configured, alarms are sent to a specific recipient through email in real time.

Prerequisites

An external SMTP server has been deployed, and is communicating properly with the front-end service network or cluster management network.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > Alarm Settings > Email Notification.
  3. Select Enable.
  4. Configure the sender email and SMTP server, as shown in Figure 16-2.

    • Encryption Protocol: indicates the encryption protocol that the SMTP server uses, including Unencrypted, SSL, and TLS. When the encryption protocol is not enabled, SMTP Port is set to 25 by default, and security risks arises. You are advised to enable the TLS protocol if the SMTP server supports the SSL and TLS protocol, and set SMTP Port based on site requirements.
      NOTE:
If Encryption Protocol is set to SSL or TLS, you need to obtain an email server CA certificate from its official website and replace the certificate in the /opt/huawei/snas/etc/cert/alarm path on each storage node with the CA certificate you have obtained. You are advised to replace certificates regularly. For details about how to replace a certificate, see the OceanStor 9000 Security Maintenance.
    • Enable certificate authentication: This parameter is displayed when SSL or TLS is selected. After this parameter is selected, the OceanStor 9000 will verify the certificate of the SMTP server as a client.
    • SMTP Server Authentication: indicates whether the SMTP server authenticates the sender identity. If this parameter is specified, the SMTP server authenticates the sender identity based on the specified Username and Password when alarms are sent by email through the SMTP server. If this parameter is not specified, Username and Password are unavailable.

    3. Click Save.

  6. Enter an email address and click Test. In the dialog box that is displayed, click OK.
