Configuring Domain Name Information

After a domain name of the object storage service is configured, users can access the object storage service with the domain name.

Context

Management nodes of the object storage service provide domain name resolution function. Users can access the system with a domain name. Management nodes resolve the domain name, and then system returns a front-end service IP address in load balancing mode to provide services. The system can also be connected to an external DNS server for domain name resolution.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > Storage Settings > Object Storage Service > Access Settings.
  3. In Service Domain Name, enter the domain name of the object storage service.

    Users can access the object storage service with the domain name.

    For example, an account set obs.huawei.com as the domain name, and the account can use the object storage service with the domain name to access OceanStor 9000.

  4. Click Save, and click OK.

Follow-up Procedure

When using the domain name to visit system, you must configure an IP address for the DNS server on a client.

Configure an IP address for a DNS server on Linux clients.

  • Without connecting to an external DNS server: At the client side, the IP address of nameserver must be configured as the front-end service IP address of a management node.
  • Connecting to an external DNS server: At the client side, the IP address of nameserver must be configured as the IP address of the external DNS server. A conditional forwarder or sub domain authorization is configured for the external DNS server to use the front-end service IP address of a management node as the DNS IP address. For details, see Connecting to the External DNS Server.

At the client side, configure an IP address for a DNS server as follows:

  1. Log in to the client as user root.
  2. Run vi /etc/resolv.conf to edit the /etc/resolv.conf file and write the IP address of nameserver
    nameserver xx.xx.xx.xx

Configure an IP address for a DNS server on Windows clients.

  • Without connecting to an external DNS server: At the client side, the IP address of DNS server as a priority must be configured as the front-end service IP address of a management node.
  • Connecting to an external DNS server: At the client side, the IP address of DNS server as a priority must be configured as the IP address of the external DNS server. A conditional forwarder or sub domain authorization is configured for the external DNS server to use the front-end service IP address of a management node as the DNS IP address. For details, see Connecting to the External DNS Server.
Take the DNS server running Windows 7 adopts IPv4 as an example. At the client side, configure an IP address for a DNS server as follows:
NOTE:
The OceanStor 9000 allows its front-end service network to use IPv4 or IPv6. Users can select an IPv4 or IPv6 DNS server for connection based on the IP address type of the front-end service network.
  1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter setting.
  2. Double-click Local Area Connection.

    The Local Area Connection Status dialog box is displayed.

  3. Click Properties.

    The Local Area Connection Properties dialog box is displayed.

  4. Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4).

  5. Choose Use the following DNS server addresses.
  6. In the Preferred DNS server text box, enter the IP address of the DNS server.
  7. Click OK twice and click Close.
