Changing the Operating System root Password of a Node

To improve data security on nodes, you are advised to periodically change the password of user root of the nodes' operating systems.


  1. log in to DeviceManager as the super administrator.
  2. Choose Settings > Cluster Settings > Cluster Node Settings.
  3. Change the operating system root password of a node.
    1. Select a node whose operating system root password needs to be changed.
    2. Click Change Password of User root.
    3. In the Change Password of User root dialog box that is displayed, enter the password in Old root Password, New Password and Confirm Password.

      • The password contains 8 to 16 characters and must contain special characters and at least two types of characters from lowercase letters, uppercase letters, and digits. The password cannot be the username or mirror writing of the username.
      • The Confirm Password must be the same as the New Password.

    4. Click OK.

      The Warning message box is displayed.

    5. Carefully read the content in the dialog box. Then select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation for confirmation.
    6. Click OK.

      The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

    7. Click Close.
