Software Architecture

OceanStor 9000 combines all physical storage nodes into a cluster to provide the object storage service. The service is compatible with object storage V1 APIs.

Figure 1-1 shows the software architecture.

Figure 1-1  Software architecture

The following describes the software architecture:

  • The OceanStor 9000 cluster employs one primary node and one secondary node as management nodes to manage accounts of the object storage service.
  • The object storage service provides RESTful API (compatible with OpenStack Swift), through which clients can access OceanStor 9000 to implement data storage.
    NOTE:
Clients can be regarded as the Internet-based object storage applications and are provided or developed by users of OceanStor 9000. The clients can be application software or visual websites.
  • Users' access to the object storage service needs to be authenticated by the Keystone server.
  • Administrators can securely access DeviceManager and SystemReporter through HTTPS to manage system resources and monitor system status and performance. DeviceManager also supports RESTful APIs.
  • OceanStor 9000 can be connected to external network management systems (NMSs) that are based on the SNMP protocol and the SMI-S protocol.
