Distinctive Ring

Distinctive Ring

You can set distinctive rings for internal and external calls.

Prerequisites

Before using the distinctive ring function, ensure that your account has been assigned the distinctive ring rights. For any questions, contact your system administrator.

The ring priorities in descending order are as follows: contact ring, group ring, internal or external ring, alarm ring, hunt group ring, ring that matches the ringtone parameter, and default ring.

In the IMS+UC network environment, the IP phone supports distinctive rings for contacts both inside and outside of the IMS group.

Setting Internal/External Ringtone

You can set the internal/external ringtone on the phone LCD screen or web page.

The priority of the individual distinctive ring function is higher than that of the system distinctive ring function. To ensure that the internal/external ringtone takes effect, you must disable the individual distinctive ring function on the server.

Disabling Individual Distinctive Ring

  1. Log in to the uPortal as a common user.
  2. Choose Call Service.
  3. Choose Ringing Service > Distinctive Ringing.
  4. Select Disable, as shown in the following figure.

Setting the Internal/External Ringtone on the Phone LCD Screen

Setting the Internal/External Ringtone on the Phone Web Page

  1. On the web page, choose Preferences > Ringtone.
  2. Set the internal/external ringtone.

After the internal/external ringtone is set, the corresponding ringtone is played when a call is received from an internal or external number.

Setting Individual Distinctive Ring

To use the individual distinctive ring function, you need to set ringtone parameters on the server and phone respectively.

Configuration on the Server

In the EC6.X network environment, you can log in to the personal portal of the server to set individual distinctive ring. For details about the personal portal address of the server, contact the system administrator.

  1. Log in to the uPortal as a common user.
  2. Choose Call Service.
  3. Choose Ringing Service > Distinctive Ringing, select Enable and specify the parameters in the dialog box on the right, and click Save.

When setting individual distinctive ring, select a ringing mode other than Ringing mode1 (Intra-enterprise call ringing mode) and Ringing mode2 (In-enterprise call ringing mode).

  1. On the web page, choose Preference > Ringtone > Ringtone Parameter Settings.
  2. Enter the parameter field in the Parameter text box, as shown in the following figure.

    Figure 7-5 Setting ringtone parameters
For example, if Ringing mode is set to Ringing mode 3, set Parameter to pattern3; if Ringing mode is set to Ringing mode 4, set Parameter to pattern4. The same rule applies to the rest. You can configure pattern7 at most.
    • The value of Parameter can contain letters, digits, and underscores (_) only.
    • The IP phone supports a maximum of 10 ringtone parameters with associated ringtones.

  3. Select music from the Local Ringtone list as the ringtone for incoming calls.

After the ringtone parameters are set, the corresponding ringtone is played based on the ringtone parameter settings when a call of the specified type or from the specified calling number is received.
