Contacts

NOTE:

To manage contact information, you need to log in to the web management system of the IP phone using a common user account. If you use an administrator account, the Contacts menu is unavailable and you cannot perform the following operations.

Adding Contacts

You can perform the following steps to add contacts:

  1. On the web page, choose Preferences > Contacts.
  2. Click Add at the lower part of the page.

    The Add page is displayed.

  3. Modify the contact information.

    NOTE:

    On the Add page, you can click Edit to import the profile picture of a contact. Only an image less than 10 KB and in .jpg, or .bmp format can be imported. The file name cannot contain such characters as ; / ? : @ # ' & = + $ ,.

  4. Click Done.

Importing/Exporting Contacts

You can perform the following steps to import contacts:

  1. On the web page, choose Preferences > Contacts.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Select the modified file to import.

    NOTE:

    The supported contact file format is .csv or .vcf.

You can click Export to export a contact file in .CSV or .vCard format. After you modify the exported contact file, you can import it as a new one.

NOTE:
  • When you import a modified .csv contact file to the phone as a new one, ensure that the contact file information is correct and the encoding format is UTF-8.

    For example, you can open the .CSV file using Excel, change the cell format to the text format, edit the contact information, and save the file in the .CSV (comma delimited) format. After the file is saved, open the file in Notepad and change the file encoding format to UTF-8.

  • This function involves personal data. When using this function, take sufficient measures to protect personal data.

Table 6-2 lists the parameters in a contact file in .CSV format.

Searching for Contacts

You can perform the following steps to search for contacts:

  1. On the web page, choose Preferences > Contacts.
  2. In the search text box, enter keywords of a contact, for example, the first name, last name, full name, or phone number.

    NOTE:

    In the EC6.X network environment, you can also search for soft client numbers in SIP URI format.

  3. Click Search.

Modifying Contacts

You can perform the following steps to modify contacts:

  1. On the web page, choose Preferences > Contacts.
  2. Click next to the contact to modify.

    The Edit page is displayed.

  3. Modify the contact information.
  4. Click Done.

Deleting Contacts

You can perform the following steps to delete contacts:

  1. On the web page, choose Preferences > Contacts.
  2. Click next to the contact to delete.

    The message "Are you sure you want to delete the contact?" is displayed.

  3. Click OK.

Clearing Contacts

All contacts will be deleted!

You can perform the following steps to clear contacts:

  1. On the web page, choose Preferences > Contacts.
  2. Click Clear.

    The message "Are you sure you want to clear contacts?" is displayed.

  3. Click OK.

Creating Groups

You can perform the following steps to create groups:

  1. On the web page, choose Preferences > Contacts.
  2. Click Groups.

    The Groups page is displayed.

  3. Click Add Group.

    The Add Group page is displayed.

  4. Edit the group.
  5. Click Done.

    NOTE:

    A contact can be added to a group only after the contact has been added to the contacts list.

Modifying Groups

You can perform the following steps to modify groups:

  1. On the web page, choose Preferences > Contacts.
  2. Click Groups.

    The Groups page is displayed.

  3. Select a group to modify and click Edit.

    The Edit page is displayed.

  4. Modify the group.
  5. Click Done.

Deleting Groups

You can perform the following steps to delete groups:

  1. On the web page, choose Preferences > Contacts.
  2. Click Groups.

    The Groups page is displayed.

  3. Select a group to delete and click Delete.

    The message "Are you sure you want to delete the group?" is displayed.

  4. Click OK.
