Function

The add virtual_machine vmtools command is used to add VMTools for a virtual machine (VM).

Format

add virtual_machine vmtools vm_id=? os_type=? vmtools_package=?

Parameters

vm_id=?

VM ID.

To obtain the value, run the "show virtual_machine general" command without parameters.

os_type=?

Type of the operating system.

The value can be "Linux" or "Windows", where:

  • "Linux": Linux operating system.
  • "Windows": Windows operating system.

vmtools_package=?

Name of the VMTools package.

Obtain the value from the uploaded VMTools package name.

Usage Guidelines

  • This command decompresses the specified VMTools package and mounts the VMTools CD-ROM that matches the specified operating system to the specified VM. Users can log in to the VM and use data in the CD-ROM. After that, users can run the "remove virtual_machine vm_iso" or "remove virtual_machine vmtools" command to unmount the VMTools in the CD-ROM.

Example

Add a VMTools to a VM.
