The create disk_domain command is used to create a disk domain.

Value

name=?

Disk domain name.

The value contains 1 to 31 digits, letters, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and periods (.).

disk_domain_id=?

Disk domain ID.

  • The value is an integer ranging from 0 to the maximum number of disk domains minus 1.
  • When this parameter is not specified, the system automatically allocates an ID for a new disk domain.

disk_list=?

Disk ID list. If you specify this parameter, you cannot specify parameters disk_type=? and disk_number=?.

The value can be "all", disk ID range, or disk ID list, where:

  • "all": All free disks are allocated to a disk domain.
  • Disk ID range: The format is start disk ID-end disk ID, for example, DAE000.1-5.
  • Disk ID list: Multiple disk IDs are separated with commas (","), for example, DAE000.1,DAE000.2,DAE000.3.

To obtain the value, press "Ctrl+A" or run "show disk general".

disk_number=?

Number of disks in a disk domain. When you use this parameter with parameter disk_type=?, the system automatically adds disks of specified types and quantity to a disk domain. If you specify this parameter, you cannot specify parameter disk_list=?.

The value is an integer ranging from 1 to 2147483647.

disk_type=?

Disk type.

The value can be "SAS", "NearLine_SAS", "SSD", "SAS_SED", "NearLine_SAS_SED" or "SSD_SED" where:

  • "SAS": indicates serial attached SCSI (SAS) disks.
  • "NearLine_SAS": indicates near line SAS (NL-SAS) disks.
  • "SSD": indicates solid state drives (SSDs).
  • "SAS_SED": indicates serial attached SCSI (SAS) self-encrypting disks.
  • "NearLine_SAS_SED": indicates near line SAS (NL-SAS) self-encrypting disks.
  • "SSD_SED": indicates solid state self-encrypting drives.
  • "SATA": Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) disks.
NOTE:

The following describes the disk type supported by each storage tier:

  • Tier 0 (high performance tier): SSD or SSD_SED
  • Tier 1 (performance tier): SAS disk or SAS_SED
  • Tier 2 (capacity tier): NL-SAS disk, NearLine_SAS_SED or SATA disk

thin_reconstruction=?

Enables or disables thin reconstruction.

The value can be "Enable" or "Disable", where:

  • "Enable": to enable thin reconstruction.
  • "Disable": to disable thin reconstruction.

The default value is "Enable".

sas_number=?

Total number of SAS disks.

The value is an integer ranging from 4 to 2147483647. You can also set the value to "all", which indicates to select all available SAS disks.

nlsas_number=?

Total number of NearLine_SAS disks.

The value is an integer ranging from 4 to 2147483647. You can also set the value to "all", which indicates to select all available NL-SAS disks.

ssd_number=?

Total number of SSD disks.

The value is an integer ranging from 2 to 2147483647. You can also set the value to "all", which indicates to select all available SSDs.

sas_sed_number=?

Total number of SAS self-encrypting disks.

The value is an integer ranging from 4 to 2147483647. You can also set the value to "all", which indicates to select all available SAS self-encrypting disks.

nlsas_sed_number=?

Total number of NearLine_SAS self-encrypting disks.

The value is an integer ranging from 4 to 2147483647. You can also set the value to "all", which indicates to select all available NL-SAS self-encrypting disks.

sata_number=?

Total number of SATA disks.

The value is an integer ranging from 4 to 2147483647. You can also set the value to "all", which indicates to select all available SATA disks.

ssd_sed_number=?

Total number of self-encrypting SSD disks.

The value is an integer ranging from 2 to 2147483647. You can also set the value to "all", which indicates to select all available self-encrypting SSDs.

tier0_hotspare_strategy=?

Hot spare strategy for Tier 0.

The value can be "high", "low", or "none" where:

  • "high": The hot spare level is high.
  • "low": The hot spare level is low.
  • "none": The hot spare level is none.

tier1_hotspare_strategy=?

Hot spare strategy for Tier 1.

The value can be "high", "low", or "none" where:

  • "high": The hot spare level is high.
  • "low": The hot spare level is low.
  • "none": The hot spare level is none.

tier2_hotspare_strategy=?

Hot spare strategy for Tier 2.

The value can be "high", "low", or "none" where:

  • "high": The hot spare level is high.
  • "low": The hot spare level is low.
  • "none": The hot spare level is none.

Example

  • Create disk domain "test" that contains eight normal SAS disks and disable thin reconstruction.

    developer:/>create disk_domain name=test disk_number=8 disk_type=SAS thin_reconstruction=Disable

    Command executed successfully.

  • Create disk domain "test" that contains eight SAS self-encrypting disks (SAS_SED) and disable thin reconstruction.

    developer:/>create disk_domain name=test disk_number=8 disk_type=SAS_SED thin_reconstruction=Disable

    Command executed successfully.

  • Create disk domain "test" that contains eight SAS disks with the hot spare strategy set to "none".

    admin:/>create disk_domain name=test disk_number=8 disk_type=SAS tier1_hotspare_strategy=none

    DANGER: You are about to create the hot spare strategy of tier of a disk domain to None. After this operation, faulty or failing disks may fail to be handled, ongoing reconstruction and pre-copy tasks will fail, or even services may get interrupted.

    Suggestion: Set the hot spare strategy to High or Low or ensure that there is sufficient free capacity on this tier.
