scan virtual_machine block

Function

The scan virtual_machine block command is used to scan the block device information in a virtual machine (VM) container.

Format

scan virtual_machine block owner_container_id=?

scan virtual_machine block owner_container_id=? [ enlarge_vmfs_enabled=? ]

owner_container_id=?

ID of the VM container.

To obtain the value, run the "show vm_container general" command without parameters.

enlarge_vmfs_enabled=?

Vmfs enlarged or not. This parameter can be specified only in developer mode. For details about how to go to the developer mode, see the Advanced O&M Command Reference.

The value can be "yes" or "no",where:

  • "yes": enlarge the vmfs.
  • "no": do not enlarge the vmfs.

Example

  • Scan for the block device in a VM container.
    admin:/>scan virtual_machine block owner_container_id=1 
    Command executed successfully.
  • Scan for the block device in a VM container and expand the file system where the virtual machine resides.
    developer:/>scan virtual_machine block owner_container_id=1 enlarge_vmfs_enabled=yes 
    CAUTION: You are about to expand the file system where the virtual machine resides. This operation will expand the capacity of the file system. 
    Suggestion: Run the show vm_fs general vm_fs_id=? command to check whether the file system has been successfully expanded based on detailed information about the file system. Large capacities of block devices or data reads and writes may prolong the time required for file system expansion. Check whether the file system has been successfully expanded later. 
    Do you wish to continue?(y/n)y 
    Command executed successfully.
  • Scan for the block device in a VM container.
    developer:/>scan virtual_machine block owner_container_id=1 enlarge_vmfs_enabled=no 
    Command executed successfully.
