Function

The traceroute command is used to show the route to the destination.

Format

traceroute -n [ -FV ] [ -f first_ttl ] [ -m max_hops ] [ -p port ] [ -S source_addr ] [ -I interface ] [ -g gateway ] [ -t tos ] [ -w timeout ] [ -q nqueries ] host [ packetlen ]

Set the "Don't Fragment" bit.

Print the version and exit.

Specifies with what TTL to start.

Chooses an alternative source address.

The interface through which to traceroute should send packets.
