Usage Guidelines

  • This command can only be executed on disk arrays.
  • The prerequisites for running this command are that the FTP service or SFTP service on the server is enabled and the server is accessible to the storage system.
  • Because the types and configurations of servers are different, some servers need "/" to indicate their root directories while others do not. Enter a correct path based on site requirements.
  • Running this command may cause service interruption. If an error occurs during the upgrade, the system may become unstable.
  • Before performing an upgrade, run "change performance statistic_enabled enabled=no" to disable the performance statistics function. Otherwise, system performance will be affected.
  • Before performing an upgrade, run "show upgrade package" to check that the current system software version needs to be upgraded or rolled back.
  • During the upgrade, do not add disk enclosures, operate disk enclosures or operate any hardware.
  • Run "create upgrade session" only when all controllers of the storage system are working properly.
  • If the storage system serves as a server in the file transfer with external systems, it supports the SFTP service only. If the storage system serves as a client, it supports both the FTP and SFTP services.
  • In expert mode, an upgrade will be suspended when encountering an error. In this case, you need check the reason and resume the upgrade using the "show upgrade status" and "change upgrade flow" CLI commands.

Example

Upgrade the controller version of the storage system. The IP address of the FTP server is "10.94.45.163", the user name is "admin", the password is "admin@123", the path to the upgrade package is "/path/OceanStor.tgz", the path to the backup configuration file is "/path/db.dat", and the path to the backup license file is "/path/lic.dat".

developer:/>create upgrade session session=system configuration_data_path=/path/db.dat license_path=/path/lic.dat ip=10.94.45.163 user=admin password=********* path=/path/OceanStor.tgz protocol=FTP
