(Optional) Checking and Setting the Working Mode of SmartIO Interface Modules
Check and set the working mode of the SmartIO interface module to ensure that it can work correctly.
Context
Note the following when checking the working mode:
- The SmartIO interface module supports two working modes: FC and FCoE/iSCSI. They are used for host service connections.
When the working mode of a SmartIO interface module is FCoE, only the Intel DCBX (CEE) mode is supported. In this case, set the interconnected switch to the Intel DCBX (CEE) mode. For details, see the switch product documentation.
- If the working mode is FC, 8 Gbit/s and 16 Gbit/s optical modules must be installed.
- If the working mode is FCoE/iSCSI or Cluster, 10 Gbit/s optical modules must be installed.
- If the working mode does not match that of the installed optical modules, a system alarm will be generated, asking you to replace optical modules or change the working mode.
Procedure
- Log in DeviceManager.
- Go to the Interface Module dialog box.
- On the right navigation bar, click
.
- Click the controller enclosure where the SmartIO interface module or onboard interface resides.
- Click
to switch to the rear view.
- Click the SmartIO interface module or onboard interface. The Interface Module dialog box is displayed.
- On the right navigation bar, click
- Click Modify and select FC in the Working Mode text box.
The Working Mode can be FC, FCoE/iSCSI, and Cluster. You can select a mode based on your site requirements. This section uses FC as an example.
After SmartIO interface module working mode is changed into Cluster and the storage system is successfully added to a cluster, its working mode cannot be changed to other working modes.
- Click OK. The Danger dialog box is displayed.
- Select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation, and click OK.
The Success dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.
- Click OK.
The new working mode will take effect 5s after the modification.
