Installing PGND Cables and Power Cables (Applicable to N610E Cabinets)
Install PGND cables and power cables to supply power for components in cabinets.
Prerequisites
- Cabinets have been installed.
- The power switches of output terminals on the PDC are set to OFF.
- The power switches of input terminals on the PDB are set to OFF.
- Required materials are ready, including power cables, PGND cables, cable ties, wax strings, and PVC insulation tapes.
- Required tools are ready, including diagonal pliers, cable cutters, Phillips screwdrivers, multimeters, and ladders.
Installing PGND Cables and Power Cables for a DC Cabinet
This section describes how to connect the external PGND cables and power cables of a DC cabinet.
Input Terminals of the DC PDB
The DC PDB used in the N610E cabinet uses the dual-input design.
The two DC power inputs are connected to the –48 V or –60 V input terminals (A1 and B1) at the upper left and right sides of the PDB respectively. The maximum input current of each input is 100 A. Input terminals A and B work in 1+1 backup mode.
The –48 V or –60 V input terminals are for blue power cables and the RTN terminals are for black power cables.
Figure 5-32 shows the dual-input terminals of the PDB.
Procedure
- Route PGND cables and power cables.
- Read Site Survey Report to determine the layout, route, and length of PGND cables and power cables.
A cabinet supports both overhead and underfloor cabling. This section uses overhead cabling as an example to illustrate how to route cables.
- Use a cable cutter to cut off a piece of cable with sufficient redundancy, as shown in Figure 5-33.
- Attach temporary labels to both ends of the cable for identification.
The content on temporary labels can be either customized or be the same as that on engineering labels.
- Route PGND cables and power cables neatly along a cable tray, and keep them away from the terminals to be connected at a proper distance.
- Read Site Survey Report to determine the layout, route, and length of PGND cables and power cables.
- Install terminals for PGND cables and power cables.
For details about how to prepare terminals for PGND cables and power cables, see Preparing Cables and Connectors.
- Install PGND cables. The PGND cable of the cabinet is yellow-green and has OT terminals at two ends, as shown in Figure 5-34. One end of the PGND cable is connected to the ground bolt on the top of the cabinet, and the other end is connected to the ground terminal of the PDC.
- On the ground bar of a PDC, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove screws from ground terminals. Then, fix PGND cables, as shown in Figure 5-35.
The tightening torque must comply with the OT terminal specifications.
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to unfasten the terminal screw on the top or at the bottom of the cabinet mounting bar and fasten the other end of the PGND cable to the mounting bar.
- In overhead cabling, fasten the other end of the PGND cable to the ground terminal on the top of the cabinet mounting bar.
- In underfloor cabling, fasten the other end of the PGND cable to the ground terminal at the bottom of the cabinet mounting bar.
- On the ground bar of a PDC, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove screws from ground terminals. Then, fix PGND cables, as shown in Figure 5-35.
- Connect the power cable of the equipment room to the DC PDB.
- Before connecting the power cable of the equipment room to the DC PDB, familiarize yourself with the input terminals of the PDB. For details, see Input Terminals of the DC PDB.
- Before connecting the power cable to the cabinet, use a multimeter to check that the output power of the PDC in the equipment room meets the power supply requirements (DC input voltage range: –40 V DC to –72 V DC).
- When connecting the power cable, ensure that the power switch is turned off.
- Output two or four redundant DC power cables from the DC PDC in the equipment room.
- Loosen the screws on the PDB, connect the OT or cord end terminal of the DC power cable to the corresponding wiring post of the PDB, and then tighten the screws.
Installing PGND Cables and Power Cables for an AC Cabinet
This section describes how to connect the external PGND cables and power cables of an AC cabinet.
Input Terminals of the AC PDB
The AC PDB used in the N610E cabinet uses the dual 2-input design.
Dual 2-input is achieved by installing a 2-pin short-circuit connector on the terminal block at the rear of the PDB.
Figure 5-36 shows the dual 2-input terminals of the PDB. Connect the four 2-pin short-circuit connectors to the terminal block, and then short-circuit the following terminals on the left and right in sequence:
- L2 and L3 on the left
- N2 and N3 on the left
- L2 and L3 on the right
- N2 and N3 on the right
Each input of the cabinet is 220 V/32 A AC, where:
- A1 input provides power for the 1-output to 4-output of group A, and B1 input provides power for the 1-output to 4-output of group B.
- A2 input provides power for the 5-output to 12-output of group A, and B2 input provides power for the 5-output to 12-output of group B.
Procedure
