Viewing the General Properties of a Remote iSCSI Channel Link

This operation enables you to check whether iSCSI links are available between the local and remote storage devices.

Prerequisites

There is a remote storage device and an iSCSI link has been set up between it and the local storage device.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Data Protection > Remote Device.
  3. Select a remote device that you want to view and click the iSCSI Link tab in the lower area.
  4. Select the iSCSI link that you want to view and click Properties.

The Properties of Link dialog box is displayed.

    NOTE:

You can also right-click the link and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.

    Table 3-2 describes the parameters.

Table 3-2 General properties of the iSCSI link

    Parameter

    Description

    Value

    Type

    Type of a remote link.

    [Example]

    iSCSI

    Link ID

    ID of a remote link.

    [Example]

    8

    Health Status

Health status of a remote link.

    [Example]

    Normal

    Running Status

Running status of a remote link.

    [Example]

    Connected

    Immediate Data

The immediate data function can accelerate data transfer over iSCSI replication links between storage arrays. You are advised to enable this function.

    NOTE:

This parameter is valid and can be modified if the Device Type of the remote device is Replication.

    [Example]

    Enable

    Local Controller

Owning controller of the local storage device.

    [Example]

    XXX0.B

    Local Port

Front-end port on the local device.

    [Example]

    XXX0.B2.P0

    Remote Controller

Owning controller of the remote storage device.

    NOTE:

This parameter is valid if the Device Type of the remote device is Replication.

    [Example]

    XXX0.B

    Remote Port

Front-end port on the remote device.

    NOTE:

This parameter is valid if the Device Type of the remote device is Replication.

    [Example]

    XXX0.B2.IOM0.P0

    Remote IP Address

IP address of the front-end port on the remote storage device.

    NOTE:

This parameter is valid if the Device Type of the remote device is Replication.

    [Example]

    192.168.26.12

    Remote TCP/IP Port

Front-end port on the remote device.

    [Example]

    3260

    Connection Recovery Policy

Recovery policy for the link connection, which can be Manual or Automatic. If the policy is set to Automatic and the link is disconnected, the system keeps trying to recover the link.

    [Example]

    Automatic

    Is CHAP Authentication Enabled

Indicates whether CHAP authentication is enabled for the remote link.

    NOTE:

This parameter is valid if the Device Type of the remote device is Heterogeneity.

    [Example]

    Enabled

  6. Optional: Modify the general properties of the iSCSI remote link.

    NOTE:

You can change the Remote IP Address if the Device Type of the remote device is Replication.

    1. Modify remote IP address of the iSCSI remote link and click OK.

The security alert dialog box is displayed.

    2. Confirm the information in the dialog box. Then select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation.
