Removing a LUN

Removing a LUN

This operation enables you to remove unnecessary LUNs to reclaim the storage resources.

If a value-added service such as clone, remote replication, snapshot or LUN copy has been configured for a LUN, the LUN cannot be removed from SmartPartition. If you have to remove it, delete the configured feature first. Before the deletion, confirm whether the corresponding feature is required.

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Provisioning > Resource Performance Tuning > SmartPartition.
  3. Go to the Remove LUN dialog box.

    1. In the upper part of the left function pane, select the SmartPartition you want to remove a LUN from.
    2. Click More > Remove LUN.

The Remove LUN dialog box is displayed.

You can also right-click and choose Remove LUN.

  4. Select the LUN you want to remove.

From the Added LUNs list, select the LUN you want to remove and click the right arrow to move it to the LUNs to Be Removed list.

  5. Confirm the LUN removal.

    1. Click OK.

The Warning dialog box is displayed.

    2. Carefully read the content in the dialog box. Then select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation for confirmation.
    3. Click OK.

The Execution Result message box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

    4. Click Close.
