Common Settings
This section describes common functional settings of the SecoClient.
Display Main
- Right-click the tray icon of the SecoClient.
- Choose Display Main from the menu to return to the main page of the SecoClient.
Connect/Disconnect
Right-click the tray icon of the SecoClient. Choose Connect from the menu to initiate a tunnel establishment request to the VPN gateway or Disconnect from the menu to remove an existing VPN tunnel.
Change Password
Right-click the tray icon of the SecoClient. Choose Change Password from the menu to change the login password.
- You can change the password only when a VPN tunnel is established between the SecoClient and FW. If there is no VPN tunnel in between, the Change Password menu is unavailable. In addition, changing the password interrupts the existing service and requires re-login. Exercise this operation with caution.
- The password change function is supported only in SSL VPN scenarios.
Error Report
When you encounter a fault that you cannot rectify, contact Huawei technical support personnel. To help Huawei technical support personnel with fault location, collect error reports of the SecoClient in advance.
In the generation of error reports, the SecoClient collects usage information of the client software. Take proper measures to ensure that the following information is strictly protected.
- error_detail.txt: records the operation steps (manually input by a user) that cause an error and the version of the client.
- netcard_info.txt: records network adapter information of the PC where the SecoClient resides.
- operate_system_info.txt: records OS information of the PC where the SecoClient resides.
- proxy_info.txt: records proxy server information of the PC where the SecoClient resides.
- route_info.txt: records routing information of the PC where the SecoClient resides.
- SecoClient_SecoClientCS_0.log: records logs generated in SecoClient service configuration, including user login success or failure information, and normal and abnormal VPN tunnel establishment information.
- SecoClient_SecoClientUI_0.log: records logs generated on the SecoClient configuration page, such as logs generated in VPN connection configuration and Chinese/English UI switchover.
- SecoClient_SecoClientPromoteService_0.log: SecoClient service process, which guarantees the proper operation of the SecoClient.
- Crash file: A crash file is created when the SecoClient terminates unexpectedly. The name of a core file indicates the cause. In the Windows system, the file name extension of a crash file is .dmp. In the MAC and Linux system, the file name extension of a crash file is .core.
- Right-click the tray icon of the SecoClient.
- Select Error Report.
- Click OK and select a path for storing the error report.
When the compressed package of a fault report is saved in the Linux operating system, the selected path cannot contain ~ < > | ; ? ' , & #.
- Click OK.
After the error report is generated, you can send the report to Huawei technical support personnel through email, USB disk, or other means for them to rectify the fault.
Cancel Auto Login
Right-click the tray icon of the SecoClient and choose Cancel Auto Login from the menu to cancel the automatic login setting.
Option
- Right-click the tray icon of the SecoClient, choose Option in the menu displayed, and set the following parameters.Table 5-8 Parameter description
Parameter
Description
Autostart on Boot
After you select this item, the SecoClient automatically starts when you start the PC.
By default, this item is not selected.
Block Connections to Untrust Servers
When the SecoClient establishes an SSL VPN tunnel with the FW, the SecoClient verifies the device certificate sent from the FW.
- Item selected
When the device certificate of the FW fails to be verified by the SecoClient, the system displays Safety warning: untrusted VPN server certificate! for your confirmation. If you are sure about the network security, select Continue to continue the SSL VPN tunnel establishment. If you are unsure about the network security, select Cancel to terminate tunnel establishment.
- Item not selected
When the certificate fails to be verified, the system does not prompt an alarm, and the tunnel is established.
By default, this item is selected.
To detect the new version
After this option is selected, the system checks whether the FW gateway to be connected has a new SecoClient version.
By default, this item is selected.
UI Language
The UI language can be manually switched.
The SecoClient provides twelve species of UI language, including:
- Arabic
- Chinese(Simplified)
- Chinese(Traditional)
- English
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Portuguese
- Russian
- Spanish
NOTE:When the client runs for the first time, if the operating system language is one of the supported 12 types of UI languages, the client UI language is the same as the operating system language. If the operating system language is beyond the supported language scope, the client UI language is English by default.
- Item selected
- Click OK.
Proxy Shielding
- In the Windows system:
The Windows operating system uses the proxy information of the Internet Explorer. Therefore, you need to modify the proxy information of the Internet Explorer.
- Open the Internet Explorer and click Tools. The Internet Options dialog box is displayed.
- Click the Connections tab and click Local Area Network (LAN) Settings.
- Set the proxy shielding information on the Proxy server setting page.
- Click OK to save the settings.
- In the Linux system:
By default, the Linux system uses the proxy information setting module of the Firefox browser.
- Open the Firefox browser, enter about:preferences in the address box, and press Enter.
- Choose Advanced > Network and click Settings under Connection.
- Set the proxy shielding information.
- Click OK to save the settings.
After you configure the proxy server on the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings page and log in to the client, a PAC file is automatically generated. After you select Use automatic configuration script on the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings page, the PAC file address is automatically specified and the PAC file is used for proxy shielding during client login. After you log out of the client, the browser automatically restores the proxy settings used before login.
The settings in the PAC file instruct the traffic to correctly access the gateway and intranet resources, preventing intranet resource access failures caused by the proxy server configured in the browser. The PAC file keeps the original proxy information unchanged and therefore does not affect the original proxy function.
If you delete the PAC file while you are logged in to the client, you may fail to access the gateway or intranet resources using Internet Explorer when the proxy is used.
Help
Right-click the tray icon of the SecoClient and choose Help from the menu.
The About item records the SecoClient version and proprietary information; the Help item includes the SecoClient usage guide that helps users to familiarize themselves with the SecoClient and rectify faults they encounter.
Exit
Right-click the tray icon of the SecoClient and choose Exit from the menu to close the software.
