Description

SRM/3/RXPOWER_EXCEEDMINOR:OID [oid] Optical module exception, Rx power is too low. (EntityPhysicalIndex=[INTEGER], BaseTrapSeverity=[INTEGER], BaseTrapProbableCause=[INTEGER], BaseTrapEventType=[INTEGER], EntPhysicalContainedIn=[INTEGER], EntPhysicalName=[OCTET], RelativeResource=[OCTET], ReasonDescription=[OCTET])

The receive power of an optical module is too low.

Attribute

Alarm ID Alarm Severity Alarm Type
1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.129.2.17.1 Minor equipmentAlarm(5)

Parameters

Name Meaning
OID Indicates the ID of a MIB object.
EntityPhysicalIndex Indicates a physical entity index.
BaseTrapSeverity Indicates the alarm severity.
BaseTrapProbableCause Indicates the error code of the alarm.
BaseTrapEventType Indicates the event type.
EntPhysicalContainedIn Indicates contained physical entity code.
EntPhysicalName Indicates the physical entity name.
RelativeResource Indicates a sub-entity.
ReasonDescription Describes reason of the fault.

Impact on the System

This alarm does not affect system operating if the interface on which the optical module is installed works properly.

Possible Causes

The receive power of the optical module was too low.

Procedure

  1. Run the display transceiver slot slot-id verbose command in the system view to check whether the receive power Rx Power of the optical module is within the allowed range. If so, collect alarms, logs, and configurations, and contact technical support personnel.
  2. If no alarm on low receive power is generated and the peer interface is Up, go to step 5.
  3. If the peer interface is Down and an alarm on that is generated, rectify the peer interface.
  4. Check whether the optical fiber is faulty. If so, replace the optical fiber.
  5. Perform an external loopback test on the interface. If the interface is in Up state, perform loopback tests on the nodes along the transmission path to locate the failure point or link.
  6. Replace the local optical module.
  7. If the fault persists after the optical module is replaced, collect alarms, logs, and configurations, and contact technical support personnel.
