Ethernet Submenu

Ethernet Submenu

Before transferring files using the Ethernet submenu, deploy an FTP or TFTP server as the file server and connect the device to the FTP or TFTP server using the management interface.

Compared with the rate for transferring files using the serial port, the file transfer using the Ethernet port is faster but requires the deployment of the FTP or TFTP server and an additional cable.

In the BootROM main menu, select 5 to access the Ethernet submenu.

Item

Description

1. Download file to SDRAM through ethernet interface and boot

Loads files to the SDRAM using the Ethernet port and starts the device.

During the startup, the device reads startup files including the system software and configuration file from the storage device and loads the files to the SDRAM on the device. This option directly loads the system software to the SDRAM, without the reading process. In this way, the device can start after loading the system software even if the storage device fails.

2. Download file to Flash through ethernet interface

Loads files to the flash memory using the Ethernet port.

A flash memory stores the bottom-layer startup files and system backup files. You can upload the BootROM program file to the flash memory.

3. Download file to CFCard through ethernet interface

Loads files to the CF card using the Ethernet port.

The CF card works as default storage device that stores the system software, configuration file, patch file, and running data. You can upload the system software to the CF card for upgrading the device.

4. Upload Configuration file to Ftp through ethernet interface

Uploads the configuration file to the FTP server for backup.

5. Modify ethernet interface parameter

Allows you to modify parameters on the Ethernet port. Properly set the parameters on the Ethernet port before uploading files using the Ethernet port.

The Ethernet port here refers to the management interface on the active MPU. Configure the IP address of the Ethernet port, files to be uploaded, and FTP user name and password, to connect the device to the FTP or TFTP server.

6. Return to main menu

NOTE:

If operation 1, 2, 3, or 4 fails three consecutive times, the device automatically restarts.
