Maintaining VSI-based Layer 2 Multicast CAC

Maintaining VSI-based Layer 2 Multicast CAC

Clearing Dynamic Multicast Forwarding Entries

If the number of dynamic forwarding entries on the switch has exceeded the newly configured Layer 2 multicast CAC limit, the switch cannot generate forwarding entries after receiving multicast requests. When this occurs, clear existing dynamic forwarding entries so that the switch can generate new forwarding entries.

Clearing dynamic multicast forwarding entries will cause temporary interruption of multicast forwarding. Exercise caution when performing this operation.

  1. Run the reset l2-multicast dynamic-group [ source-address source-address ] group-address group-address vsi vsi-name { interface interface-type interface-number | remote-peer ip-address [ negotiation-vc-id vc-id ] } command in the user view to clear dynamic IGMP snooping entries.

Monitoring Layer 2 Multicast CAC Operation

Run the following commands in any view to check whether Layer 2 multicast CAC is functioning properly.

  • Run the display l2-multicast limit [ configuration | statistics ] [ global | interface interface-type interface-number | vsi [ vsi-name [ interface interface-type interface-number | remote-peer ip-address [ negotiation-vc-id vc-id ] ] ] ] [ channel channel-name ] command to check the Layer 2 multicast CAC configuration and statistics.
  • Run the display l2-multicast-channel [ vsi [ vsi-name ] | global ] [ channel channel-name ] command to check the configuration of a channel.
