Overview of IoT APs


The Internet of Things (IoT) is the interconnection of various information sensing equipment, such as the radio frequency identification (RFID), infrared sensor, Global Positioning System (GPS), and laser scanner, within the Internet infrastructure. The IoT aims to interconnect all objects for easier identification and management.

An IoT access point (AP) is an AP supporting IoT modules. Huawei's IoT AP provides three IoT slots, into which IoT modules can be inserted.


IoT technologies are applicable to diverse industries, for example, healthcare, shopping mall/supermarket, manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing. These industries require good wireless coverage and hope to leverage IoT technologies such as RFID to implement health monitoring, infant protection, assets management, and goods supply chain management.

After IoT modules are inserted, IoT APs not only provide wireless coverage but also support IoT applications, converging the WLAN and IoT.


  • Simplified network

    Inserting IoT modules into an AP integrates all IoT access points on the AP. Wireless terminals and IoT terminals work on the same network, simplifying the network architecture.

  • Easy management

    An administrator only needs to manage one network as the WLAN and IoT are integrated.
