MRM/3/CACOIFCHN:OID [oid] PIM received join from interface which belongs to channel is discarded due to the OIF limitation based on this channel. PIM entries cannot be created because the outgoing interface was configured with the channel-based CAC limit.

Impact on the System

PIM entries cannot be created, which will affect the transfer of multicast data.

Possible Causes

A channel of the public network or VPN instance was configured, and the channel-based entry limit and bandwidth limit were configured on a specific interface. This trap is generated when the group address of the PIM Join message received by this interface was within the range of this channel and either the sum of the PIM entries to be created and the existing entries or the total bandwidth of these entries exceeded the limit.

For groups in the ASM group address range, the same G, (*,G) entry and all (S,G) entries are counted as one entry. For groups in the SSM group address range, one (S,G) entry is counted as one entry.

By default, the bandwidth of each entry is 2 Mbit/s.


  1. Run the display multicast [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name ] limit channel channel-name out-interface interface-type interface-number command to check whether the value of Entries equals the value of Used-Entries and whether available bandwidth, namely, the difference between Bandwidth and Used-Bandwidth, is smaller than the bandwidth of an entry.

    • If so, go to Step 2.

    • If not, go to Step 4.

  2. Check the network status and judge whether more multicast data can be contained in the network.

    • If so, go to Step 3.

    • If not, go to Step 5. This situation indicates that multicast services in the network are saturated and therefore no more entries can be added. It is recommended to reduce multicast services or deploy a higher-performance device as an alternative to the current device.

  3. Run the multicast limit channel channel-name out { max-entry limit | bandwidth traffic-rate } * command in the interface view to increase the channel-based entry limit or bandwidth limit on the outgoing interface. Then, check whether the trap persists.

    • If so, go to Step 1.

    • If not, go to Step 5.

  4. Collect alarm information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.
  5. End.
