(Optional) Configuring Physical Layer Fault Notification

(Optional) Configuring Physical Layer Fault Notification

Physical layer fault notification speeds up fault detection and notification. This function implements the transfer of fault information between a PW and an AC. The PE device on the primary PW shuts down the corresponding AC interface when it detects a PW failure. The dual-homed CE devices then detect the link failure and trigger link switching.

Physical layer fault notification can only be configured on Ethernet interfaces that have set up VC connections. Perform the following operations on the PE devices to which the CE device is dual-homed:

  1. Run:

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run:

    interface interface-type interface-number

The AC interface view is displayed.

  3. Run:

    mpls l2vpn trigger if-down

Physical layer fault notification is enabled.
