MCAST/3/MVPN_VP: Failed to allocate vp index. (SourceIP=[IPADDR], GroupIP=[IPADDR])


The system failed to allocate a virtual path (VP) index for multicast VPN.


Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
SourceIP Indicates a source IP address.
GroupIP Indicates a group IP address.

Possible Causes

There is not sufficient VP index resources in the system.


  1. Run the display tunnel-info { tunnel-id tunnel-id | all | statistics [ slots ] } command to check whether the number of configured GRE tunnels reaches the maximum value supported by the switch. For the product specifications, log in to Huawei official website to download the product brochure.

    • If yes, delete unnecessary GRE tunnels to release VP index resources. Then re-configure the multicast VPN function. If this log persists, go to step 2.
    • If no, go to step 2.

  2. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.
