(Optional) Preventing Timing Loops Between BITS Interfaces

Context

The device supports bidirectional communication on a BITS interface.

When the SSM quality level is used in clock source selection, unidirectional communication causes loops because the SSM quality level returned from the remote end may be the same as the SSM quality level sent from the local end. In this case, clock source selection for the BITS interface is affected. Loops can be avoided by setting the S1 byte of the SSM message sent to the local BITS interface to DNU so that the clock does not participate in clock source selection.

Do as follows on the remote device.

Procedure

  1. Run:

    system-view
    

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run:

    clock force-out-s1 s1-dnu { bits0 | bits1 }

    The S1 byte of the SSM message sent to the local BITS interface is set to DNU so that this clock does not participate in clock source selection.
