CSS Card Slot

Two types of CSS cards are available: independent CSS cards and CSS cards integrated on the panel.
  • SFUs of the following models must have independent CSS cards installed in the following slots. Independent CSS cards are EH1D2VS08000.
    • Subcard slot in the ET1D2SFUA000 (applicable to S12704/S12708/S12712)
    • Subcard slot in the ET1D2SFUC000 (applicable to S12704/S12708)
    • Subcard slot in the ET1D2SFUD000 (applicable to S12708/S12712)
  • SFUs of the following model have integrated CSS cards (supported since V200R010C00):
    • ET1D2SFUB000 applicable to S12704/S12708/S12712

CSS card and SFU models are abbreviated to VS08 and SFUA (SFUC, SFUD, or SFUB) respectively.

Switches that use SFUBs can set up a CSS with switches that use SFUAs, SFUCs, or SFUDs.

Pluggable Modules for Ports on CSS Cards

10G port:
  • 1 m, 3 m, 5 m (passive), and 10 m (active) SFP+ cables

  • SFP+ optical module and fiber

  • 3 m and 10 m SFP+ AOC cables

40G port:
  • 1 m, 3 m, and 5 m QSFP+ high-speed cables
  • QSFP+ optical module (except the QSFP-40G-SR-BD model) and fiber
  • 10 m QSFP+ AOC cable (this cable cannot be used when 40G ports on both ends are split into 10G ports)

Hardware Configuration

  • Two member switches of the same or different models can form a CSS. For example, two S12704s can form a CSS; one S12708 and one S12712 can form a CSS.
  • Each chassis must have at least one MPU and one SFU installed. You are advised to install at least two SFUs and two CSS cards in each chassis. An S12704 can have a maximum of two SFUs and two CSS cards installed. Additionally, ensure that each SFU has at least one cluster cable connected to the other chassis. It is recommended that all CSS ports be connected.

  • The SFUs in one chassis must be of the same model. The SFUs in two chassis can be of different models; however, the same model is recommended.
