How Does a Switch Process BPDUs?
By default, an interface discards the received BPDUs. To configure an interface to forward BPDUs, run the bpdu bridge enable command.
If a protocol is enabled on an interface, BPDUs of the protocol are sent to the CPU for processing. For example, if only STP is enabled on an interface, STP BPDUs are sent to the CPU for processing regardless of whether the bpdu bridge enable or bpdu bridge disable command is run.
