Upgrading or Downgrading the License Version

Upgrading or Downgrading the License Version

Target license file or ESN of the target device has been known.

When the software version of a device is upgraded, you need to upgrade the license file so that the product version in the license file is the same as the software version of the device. Otherwise, the license file cannot be loaded in the system of the new version.

Some devices or versions do not verify license files for backward compatibility. In this case, the old license can be loaded after the software is upgraded. If the license control items of the two versions are different, you must upgrade the license to eliminate the difference.

Only permanent license can be upgraded or downgraded. Temporary license and fix-term license cannot be upgraded or downgraded.

  1. Log in to the ESDP system at
  2. Choose License Commissioning and Maintenance > Version Change in the navigation tree to access the Version Change page.
  3. Read the content in Notice, select I have read and agree to the above, and click Next.

  4. Click Upload to upload the license file to be upgraded or downgraded.

You can search for and download the target license file in the ESDP system using the ESN of the device. The navigation path is Equipment(Node) Management. If the local license file is different from that in the ESDP system, the license file in the ESDP system is applied.

  5. Select the current product name or version and the target product name or version.

Select the right product and version to ensure that the product and version are the same as those of the target device. Otherwise, the license file cannot be activated, and services will be interrupted.

In an upgrade operation, the target version must be later than the current version; in a downgrade operation, the target version must be earlier than the current version.

  6. Check the information and click Activate License.
  7. You can download the new license file after the version is successfully changed.

You can search for and download the new license file on the Equipment(Node) Management page based on the device ESN.
