Setting an Address for the Preferred NTP Server (ntp -d preferredserver)


The ntp -d preferredserver command is used to set an address for the preferred NTP server.


ipmcset -t ntp -d preferredserver -v addr





addr Indicates the IP address of the preferred NTP server. The value can be any of the following:
  • IPv4 address
  • IPv6 address
  • Domain name

Usage Guidelines

  • The iBMC versions earlier than V312 support only the Linux NTP servers.
  • The iBMC supports Linux and Windows NTP servers from V312.


# Set the preferred NTP server address to

iBMC:/->ipmcset -t ntp -d preferredserver -v
Set NTP preferred server ( successfully.
