Storage System Configuration

This section details how to add initiators to the hosts on the storage system. For other storage configurations, see the Basic Storage Service Configuration Guide corresponding to your storage system.

• If a storage system is connected to an AIX host over a directly-connected network, only the arbitrated loop topology applies.
• If a storage system is connected to an AIX hosts over a switch-connected network, any topology mode is applicable.

1. Log in to the storage system on a web browser.

   After you have configured the zones on the switch, log in to DeviceManager of the storage system and choose Provisioning > Host > Initiator. On the page that is displayed, select FC from the Initiator Type drop-down list. Check whether the host initiators have been discovered.

   The host initiators have been discovered and are online.

   If no host initiator is found on the storage system, run the cfgmgr -v command on the host for the storage system to detect the initiator.

2. Click the Host tab, select the host that was created on the storage system, and click Add Initiator.

3. Select FC from the Initiator Type drop-down list and find the host initiators' WWNs.

4. Select the host initiators and add them to Selected Initiators.

5. Verify that the initiators have been added to the host correctly.

   As shown in Figure 5-14, the initiators have been added to the host successfully. The initiator properties depend on the operating system and multipathing software used by the hosts. For details, see the storage-side configuration in the multipathing configuration section in this document.
