Function

The display cpu command displays CPU usage of the device.

Format

display cpu [ slot slot-id ]

Usage Guidelines

CPU usage is an important index to evaluate device performance. A high CPU usage will cause service faults, for example, BGP route flapping, frequent VRRP active/standby switchover, and even failed device login. You can use the display cpu command to view CPU usage to check whether devices are working properly.

Function

The display cpu monitor command displays the CPU overloading status.

Format

Usage Guidelines

When the CPU usage is high, run the display cpu monitor command to check whether the CPU is overloaded. If the CPU is overloaded, the administrator can take action to reduce the CPU usage and ensure that the device runs properly.

The display cpu command can be used to display the CPU usage.

Component type.

Online

Whether a component is running properly:
  • Present: The component is running properly.

  • Offline: The component is not running properly or is isolated.

Power

Whether a component is powered on:
  • On: The component is powered on.

  • Off: The component is not powered on.

"-" indicates the component power-on status cannot be obtained. The status probably is caused by the following situations:
  • The component is not registered or the registration fails. If the component is not registered, check again after the component is registered. If the registration fails, rectify the fault according to the troubleshooting manual.

  • The component is registered, but the power-on status is not submitted. Wait a moment and check again.

Register

Whether a component is registered:
  • Registered: The component has registered successfully.

  • Unregistered: The component fails to register.

Alarm

Component running status:
  • Abnormal: The component is not running properly.

  • Normal: The component is running properly.

  • WrongType: The currently installed component model conflicts with the preconfigured model.

"-" indicates the component running status cannot be obtained.

Primary

Master/Slave status of the switch. The master switch, standby switch, slave switch, and other switches are in Master, Standby, Slave, and NA states respectively.

Part Number

BOM code of the device.

Board Type

Type of the device.

Board Description

Description of the device.

Interface

Interface number.

Port Type

Interface type:
  • Fiber: optical interface

  • Copper: electrical interface

Optic Status

Status of the optical module:
  • Present: The optical module is running properly.

  • Absent: The board is not running properly.

MDI

MDI type of an interface. The MDI type of an electrical interface is displayed as Auto, and the MDI type of an optical interface or management network interface is displayed as "--".

Speed (Mbps)

Interface rate, in Mbit/s.

"--" indicates that an interface is unavailable.

Duplex

Duplex mode of the interface:
  • Half: half-duplex mode

  • Full: full-duplex mode

Input Flow-control

Whether inbound flow control is enabled on the interface:
  • Enable: Inbound flow control is enabled.

  • Disable: Inbound flow control is disabled.

Output Flow-control

Whether outbound flow control is enabled on the interface:
  • Enable: Outbound flow control is enabled.

  • Disable: Outbound flow control is disabled.

Port Status

Interface status:
  • Up: The interface is Up.
  • Down: The interface is Down.
  • *Down: The interface has been shut down by the administrator using the shutdown command.

display device board reset

Function

The display device board reset command displays the reason for the device reset.

Format

display device board reset { slot-id [ card card-id ] | all }

Parameters

slot-id Displays the reason for reset of a specified device.

The value is an integer. You can enter a question mark (?) and select a value from the displayed value range.

card card-id Displays the reason for reset of a specified card.
NOTE:

Only the CE8860EI supports this parameter.

all Displays the reason for reset of all devices. -

Usage Guidelines

After a device is reset, this command can be used to check the reason for the device reset. The command output can be used to check whether the device is faulty.

The display device elabel command displays the electronic label of the device.

Usage Guidelines

Devices can run properly when fans are working properly. If proper heat dissipation cannot be ensured for devices, devices may overheat, damaging the hardware. You can use the display device fan command to view the fan status.

Usage Scenario

When a fault occurs in the system, you can use the display diagnostic-information command to collect diagnostic information for fault location.

The display diagnostic-information command output includes the output for multiple display commands, such as display clock, display version, and display current-configuration. Running the display diagnostic-information command is like running these display commands in batches.

Precautions

  • If the file-name parameter is not specified, diagnostic information is only displayed on the screen. If the file-name parameter is specified, diagnostic information is only stored to a specified file but not displayed on the screen, and the command level is management level (3).
  • This command displays diagnostic information, which helps locate faults but may affect system performance. For example, CPU usage may become high. Therefore, do not use this command when the system is running properly.

  • Running the display diagnostic-information command simultaneously on multiple terminals connected to the device is prohibited. This is because CPU usage of the device may obviously increase and the device performance may be degraded.

Usage Guidelines

You can view the memory usage alarm threshold to learn about the conditions for triggering alarms.

  • When memory usage reaches the alarm threshold, the system generates an alarm.
  • When memory usage falls within the alarm threshold, the system generates a clear alarm.
