Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

The transmission mechanism of OSPFv3 packets is applicable to the following packets:

  • DD packet

  • Update packet

  • Request packet

If you cannot receive replies for the three types of packet, enable retransmission limit, set the maximum number of retransmissions, and disconnect the neighbor when the retransmission exceeds the specified count.

In this manner, neighbor flapping caused by packet loss in a small probability can be avoided.

Configuration Impact

If the maximum number of retransmissions is set too small, route flapping may occur. If the maximum number of retransmissions is set too large, neighbor information of the local device may become incorrect.

Example

# Enable the OSPFv3 retransmission limit attributes.
