Configuring BFD to Detect a Layer 3 Eth-Trunk Member Link

Configuring BFD to Detect a Layer 3 Eth-Trunk Member Link

Pre-configuration Tasks

BFD for Link-bundle quickly detects and monitors Layer 3 Eth-Trunk member links.

Before configuring BFD to detect an Eth-Trunk member link, complete the following tasks:

  • Configure a Layer 3 Eth-Trunk and ensure that its link layer protocol status is Up.

  • Configure an IP address for the Layer 3 Eth-Trunk and ensure that its Layer 3 protocol status is Up.

Configuration Process

Figure 2-20 Configuring BFD to detect an Eth-Trunk member link

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run bfd

BFD is enabled globally and the BFD view is displayed.

By default, BFD is disabled globally.

  3. Run quit

    Return to the system view.

  4. Run the following commands as required.

    • To configure BFD for Link-bundle to detect an IPv4 Eth-Trunk link, run bfd session-name bind link-bundle [ compatible-mode ] peer-ip ip-address [ vpn-instance vpn-name ] interface interface-type interface-number source-ip ip-address

A BFD session for Link-bundle is created.

By default, a BFD session for Link-bundle is not created.

      NOTE:
      • The remote IPv4 address of the BFD session for Link-bundle must be the IP address of the remote Layer 3 Eth-Trunk.
      • The source IPv4 address of the BFD session for Link-bundle must be the IP address of the local Layer 3 Eth-Trunk.
    • To configure BFD for Link-bundle to detect an IPv6 Eth-Trunk link, run bfd session-name bind link-bundle [ compatible-mode ] peer-ipv6 ipv6-address [ vpn-instance vpn-name ] interface interface-type interface-number source-ipv6 ipv6-address

A BFD session for Link-bundle is created.

By default, a BFD session for Link-bundle is not created.

      NOTE:
      • The remote IPv6 address of the BFD session for Link-bundle must be the IP address of the remote Layer 3 Eth-Trunk.
      • The source IPv6 address of the BFD session for Link-bundle must be the IP address of the local Layer 3 Eth-Trunk.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
