Configuring the Function to Delete ARP Entries Immediately After a Link Goes Down

Background

By default, when a member interface of a VLAN goes Down, the device deletes the ARP entries learned by the member interface only after detecting that they are aged in an ARP probe. The device then updates routing entries. This processing mechanism may delay link switchover in an ECMP scenario. To speed up link switchover in an ECMP scenario, enable the device to delete ARP entries learned by a member interface of a VLAN immediately after the interface link goes Down without waiting for the ARP aging probe result.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The VLANIF interface view is displayed.

  3. Run arp delete trigger link-down enable

    The function to delete ARP entries immediately after a link goes Down is enabled.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
