Configuration Guide - QoS

CloudEngine 8800, 7800, 6800, and 5800 V200R002C50

This document describes the configurations of QoS functions, including MQC, priority mapping, traffic policing, traffic shaping, interface-based rate limiting, congestion avoidance, congestion management, packet filtering, redirection, traffic statistics, and ACL-based simplified traffic policy.

Configuring Congestion Management

Configuring Congestion Management

Pre-configuration Tasks

When a network is congested intermittently, configure congestion management on the device. The device then determines the sequence at which packets are forwarded according to the defined scheduling policy and ensures that high-priority services are scheduled preferentially.

Before configuring congestion management, map the priority of packets to a PHB.

Context

Each interface can be configured with a maximum of eight queues. Different queues can use different scheduling modes. The device schedules the PQ queue first. If multiple PQ queues exist, the device schedules the queues in descending order of priority. A larger queue index indicates higher priority of a queue. After all the PQ queues are scheduled, the device schedules the WRR or DRR queues in turn.

NOTE:

For CE6870EI, congestion management applies only to unicast traffic.

Procedure

  • Configuring Congestion Management (CE6870EI)
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

      The interface view is displayed.

    3. Run qos { pq { start-queue-index [ to end-queue-index ] } &<1-8> | wfq { start-queue-index [ to end-queue-index ] } &<1-8> }*

The scheduling mode of queues on the interface is set.

By default, all queues use PQ scheduling.

    4. (WFQ scheduling) Run qos queue queue-index wfq weight weight

The weight for WFQ scheduling is set.

By default, the WFQ weight of a queue is 1.

    5. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

  • Configuring Congestion Management (CE6880EI)
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

      The interface view is displayed.

    3. Run qos { pq { start-queue-index [ to end-queue-index ] } &<1-8> | drr { start-queue-index [ to end-queue-index ] } &<1-8> }*

The scheduling mode of queues on the interface is set to PQ+DRR.

By default, all queues use PQ scheduling.

    4. Run qos queue queue-index drr weight weight

The weight for DRR scheduling is set.

By default, the weight for DRR scheduling is 1.

    5. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

  • Configuring Congestion Management (For models except CE6870EI and CE6880EI)
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

      The interface view is displayed.

    3. Run qos { pq { start-queue-index [ to end-queue-index ] } &<1-8> | { wrr | drr } { start-queue-index [ to end-queue-index ] } &<1-8> }*

The scheduling mode of queues on the interface is set to PQ+WRR or PQ+DRR.

By default, all queues use PQ scheduling.

      NOTE:

On the CE6800 (excluding the CE6856HI, CE6850HI, CE6850U-HI, CE6851HI, and CE6855HI) and CE5850HI, queues 0 to 5 use WRR or DRR scheduling, and queues 6 and 7 use PQ scheduling.

    4. Configure the weight.

      • In WRR scheduling, run qos queue queue-index wrr weight weight

The weight for WRR scheduling is set.

By default, the weight for WRR scheduling is 1.

      • In DRR scheduling, run qos queue queue-index drr weight weight

The weight for DRR scheduling is set.

By default, the weight for DRR scheduling is 1.

    5. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

Verifying the Configuration

  • Run the display qos configuration interface [ interface-type interface-number ] command to check all the QoS configurations on the interface.

  • Run the display qos queue statistics interface interface-type interface-number [ verbose ] command to view queue-based traffic statistics on the interface.

    NOTE:

Only the CE6870EI supports the verbose parameter.
